The role
What does it mean for our supervision if AI determines the prices of financial products? How do we recognize financial vulnerability to take action in a timely manner? These are examples of possible analyses that you, as a risk analyst, will work on. Thanks to your work, the AFM can signal and address risks in a timely manner.
The AFM is a risk-driven supervisor. This means that we deploy our powers in places where the most damage can occur to consumers. We must therefore prioritize and make sharp choices, and you, as a risk analyst, contribute to this as well.
What you'll do
You keep a close eye on developments in the financial retail market. You signal trends, risks, and new products that may be harmful and are therefore relevant to the AFM. You translate these risk analyses into practical advice and ideas for projects to strengthen supervision. Examples of this include the rise of Buy Now Pay Later and AI, which the AFM must respond to in a timely manner.
The AFM has various instruments to determine whether it is setting the right priorities and to look ahead to new trends. You assist in the development and implementation of these. An example of this is our annual publication Trendzicht.
You work closely with colleagues from the supervision teams. Although the analyses and prioritization are qualitatively based, you utilize data whenever it can contribute to effective analysis and prioritization.
Thanks to your analyses, foresight, and instruments for prioritizing, the AFM can deploy its supervision where it can make the most impact.

The deadline for this vacancy is 8 November 2026.
