A vacancy for a urologist (0.9 fte) is available at the Urology department of the NKI-AVL. Currently, we work at the AVL with 9 full-time urologists, 2 part-time urologists, and 2 urologists in guest positions in oncological urology. Additionally, there are 8 experienced nurse practitioners, 1 fellow, and 2-3 urology residents (AIOS) within the urology department.
Within our team, there is room for a urologist with kidney cancer as a focus area. This urologist will also be deployable for the care of other urological malignancies. This broad portfolio can further develop given the range of oncological conditions treated within urology at the AVL.
The urologist will fully participate in clinical care and provide an active contribution to, and (help direct) the initiation, setup, and execution of scientific research. Initially, this will be in the field of kidney cancer, where there is close cooperation in the Amsterdam region with the partners of the Amsterdam Kidney Cancer Network. Preference is given to a PhD-holding medical specialist with a demonstrable interest in scientific research. Education is also an important spearhead of urology at the AVL. The urologist is expected to participate in the training of urology residents and fellows.
We offer a dynamic working environment in which various urological malignancies are treated within multiple focus groups. Specific attention is paid to the multidisciplinary character of oncological care, and within the focus groups, there is direct collaboration with medical oncologists, radiation therapists, radiologists, nuclear medicine specialists, and pathologists.
The urology department of the AVL plays an important role in urological collaborations in the region regarding kidney, bladder, and prostate cancer, and nationally regarding penile and testicular cancer.
