The role

Working on the latest truck technology and helping young mechanics grow? Then you will feel at home as a Practical Coach at Volvo Group Truck Center.

You are the one who guides apprentices and career changers during their journey toward craftsmanship. Not just from a classroom, but primarily in the middle of practice. On the workshop floor, among the trucks, where technology comes to life. Thanks to your knowledge, enthusiasm, and coaching, mechanics develop faster, grow in confidence, and ultimately achieve their diploma. That makes your work not only challenging but, above all, incredibly valuable.

What you'll do

  • You guide apprentices and career changers in their technical development and help them successfully complete their training.
  • You translate theory into practice and show how modern truck technology really works.
  • You provide inspiring training sessions on new technologies, systems, faults, and campaigns.
  • You support mechanics with technical challenges and complex diagnoses.
  • You maintain contact with schools, mentors, and managers to monitor the progress of apprentices.
  • You identify which technical knowledge is needed within the workshop and contribute ideas for suitable training programs.
  • You contribute to recruitment, events, and initiatives to make new technical talents enthusiastic about the profession.

What makes this role so much fun?

No two days are the same. One day you help an apprentice solve a technical challenge, the next day you provide practical training or discuss progress with a mentor or school. You work together with colleagues at various locations in Zuid-Holland and, as a result, meet many people within our organization. You are coach, trainer, motivator, and technical specialist all in one.

Why does your work matter? Today's trucks are becoming increasingly smart. That is why we need professionals who continue to learn and develop. As a Practical Coach, you play a key role in this. Thanks to your guidance, apprentices grow into fully qualified mechanics and our workshops remain ready for the technology of tomorrow.
