The role

Working at Vervoerregio Amsterdam means being able to make the real difference at an expert organization for mobility challenges. In everything we do, we work toward an accessible region for the people who live, work, learn and recreate here. Now and in the future. That calls for responsible choices that are best for people, our environment and the planet.

More than ever, in this busiest region of the country, we must provide clean and healthy transport options that fit the different areas. That is necessary to ensure that all our residents and visitors can reach their destination. That is why, together with our fourteen municipalities, we are working on a sustainably accessible region in which our travelers can travel safely, affordably, smoothly and comfortably from door to door. Would you also like to contribute to this, at one of the largest public transport clients in the Netherlands? Then read on quickly!

What impact will you make?

As a Planning & Control Coordinator within the Finance team, you are a vital link in the P&C processes. You take charge of the budget, annual accounts, and management reports, and you monitor substantive quality and timely delivery. From a central role, you align processes and products within the team and create connections with the rest of the organization.

Within the Vervoerregio, work is being done on the further professionalization of the organization. For example, a new financial system is being implemented that will be put into use at the beginning of 2027. Additionally, in 2026, the organization will make increasingly intensive use of a new planning and control system for the P&C processes and budget management. As a P&C coordinator, you will contribute to the design of these systems and to the further optimization of the associated work processes.

What else is important to know?

As a Planning & Control Coordinator, you safeguard the common thread between content and figures. You advise the board and ensure that all P&C products are delivered in a timely, coherent, and high-quality manner.

What will you do?

  • Process management: You draw up the annual plan, organize kick-offs, and coordinate the full creation of the P&C products. Afterwards, you organize evaluations and carry the findings forward to the next products.

  • Substantive quality: You assess texts and financial substantiations, monitor the coherence between content and figures, write administrative proposals, and advise on motions and amendments.

  • Administrative support: You explain documents in the MT and committees and annotate meetings for the Finance portfolio holder.

  • Connection role: You maintain contact with the municipalities regarding views, answer council questions, are present at the audit committee, and attend regional council meetings.

  • System management: You are responsible for the functional management of the P&C system (Illionx/LIAS InControl).

  • Strategic advice: You are a standing member of the internal P&C core team and work closely with strategic advisors from various departments.

  • Steering information: You actively contribute to the development of dashboards and reliable steering information for the organization.

Requirements

You are an experienced P&C professional with strong analytical skills and know how to convincingly connect content and figures. You switch easily between administrative advising, process management, and precise detailed checking. You communicate clearly, provide structure, and know how to create overview, connection, and progress. Additionally, you are flexible, proactive, and willing to go the extra mile during peak periods.

What else does this position require of you?

  • You possess at least an HBO (higher professional education) level of working and thinking and have completed an education in a business economics direction.

  • You have demonstrable experience with the coordination of P&C processes. Knowledge of the Decree on Budgeting and Accountability for Provinces and Municipalities (BBV) and experience is a plus.

Competencies

  • You show ownership and have a hands-on mentality; you stand behind your work and know how to deal effectively with unexpected hurdles.

  • You work accurately and in a structured manner; you have an eye for detail, maintain an overview, and signal errors and risks in a timely manner.

  • You possess strong communication and advisory skills and move easily between the board, management, municipalities, and colleagues.

What does your team look like?

As Planning & Control Coordinator, you are part of the Finance team, one of the seven teams within the organization. The Finance team supports the board and the organization with sound financial policy, reliable planning & control, and efficient financial management.

The team consists of approximately 22 employees, divided into three sub-teams:

  • Financial administration

  • Cost experts/advisors

  • Controllers (business, project, and financial)

You will join a close-knit and committed team where collegiality is central. Hard work is done, but there is also care for one another. There is an open atmosphere in which successes are celebrated and in which you can always go to someone for a question or a good conversation. In addition to work, fun activities are regularly organized, such as team outings or drinks.

What do we offer you?

You will work with pleasant and driven colleagues, and an informal working atmosphere prevails in the office. Our organization is constantly in motion, and your initiative and personal input are highly valued.
