About the company & team

You will come to work at our Procurement Expertise Center (IEC) at the headquarters in Eindhoven. We are a compact team of specialists focusing on the strategic coherence and development of procurement within the entire VDL Group.

In this new role, you will ensure that digitalization, data, and AI deliver maximum value within the procurement process. You will monitor strategic goals, identify opportunities for improvement, develop these further, and support VDL operating companies in increasing productivity and implementing new digital solutions. In doing so, you will collaborate with the other staff departments (including Finance, HR, Sustainability, and IT) of VDL Netherlands.

Additionally, you will ensure the onboarding of suppliers into the ESG‑data management tool and support VDL operating companies in using this tool.

You will identify decentralized initiatives, develop best practices, roll them out group-wide, and create business standards to realize uniform and efficient ways of working within VDL.

You will also play an important role in performing data analysis of relevant procurement KPIs and in the further development of the real-time Power BI‑procurement dashboard.

As a central knowledge and development team, we develop concepts for digitalization, training, knowledge sharing, and central procurement—and we support the individual VDL operating companies in applying and embracing these new solutions. Consequently, the IEC has a direct impact on the daily work of more than seventy VDL operating companies in the Netherlands.

Mission:

The Procurement Expertise Center increases collective purchasing power and stimulates sustainable revenue growth. We do this by actively sharing knowledge, deploying digital tools, and applying uniform standards. Our goal: strengthen business results, relieve VDL operating companies of burdens, increase procurement collaboration and impact, and contribute to sustainable value creation.

Scope:

The Procurement Expertise Center, as an engine of change, ensures the further development and optimization of all procurement activities at VDL Group, as a knowledge authority, process director, and strategic partner for both direct (raw materials, production goods) and indirect procurement (non-production related goods and services).

With the help of digitalization, we create uniform ways of working, increase economies of scale, and make performance transparent and measurable.

Vision:

In five years, the procurement discipline of VDL Group will be:

  • A network of decentralized procurement teams that collaborate effectively on collective procurement activities and procurement objectives in the field of QLTCS, driven by the Procurement Expertise Center that connects, develops, and strengthens procurement at VDL Group to realize maximum value.
  • A discipline that contributes maximally to the business results of VDL Group.
  • A recognizable and reliable player in the manufacturing industry with solid and distinctive performance.
  • Largely automated and digitally supported, with real-time dashboards that provide insight into results and performance.
