What we're looking for

  • At least one year of experience in field sales within sectors such as telecommunications, energy, business technology, waste management, security systems, or the food and beverage industry
  • Experience with cold calling, including personally approaching businesses and finding leads yourself.
  • Experience selling to small and medium-sized businesses and negotiating directly with owners or decision-makers.
  • A proven track record in acquiring new customers and achieving sales targets. We ask you to provide examples of what you have achieved and how.
  • The ability to guide a sales process from initial contact to closing, including handling questions and objections.
  • Good organization and consistent follow-up.
  • The ability to handle rejection, learn from feedback, and persevere.
  • An understanding of self-employed entrepreneurship and the willingness to invest the necessary time in building your customer base.
  • A base of operations within easy reach of your assigned area, so you can regularly meet potential and existing customers.

Nice to have

  • An existing network of local entrepreneurs who could benefit from SumUp's products.
  • Experience in payments, merchant services, POS, or EPOS.

Experience with telesales is useful, but you must also have sold face-to-face in the field.

Pay & benefits

What you'll get

Self-employed | Commission only | Local sales territory | €100K + potential

This is a self-employed position on a commission basis, without a base salary. Earnings are unlimited and depend on your individual sales performance.

The commission package for this role includes:

  • Payments: 50% of net payment revenue on an annual basis.
  • Hardware: 50% of hardware revenue.
  • Software: 50% of annual software revenue.
  • Residual income: 20% of SumUp's net revenue, paid monthly for a maximum of five years.
  • Incentive bonus for new partners: three times the usual residual income during the first three months.
  • Additional milestone bonuses.

The role

Experienced field sales representative

We are looking for experienced field sales representatives who feel comfortable walking into a business, striking up a conversation with the owner, and winning a new customer.

As a self-employed field sales representative, you will sell SumUp's payment, POS, and software solutions to small and medium-sized businesses in your region. You will source potential customers yourself, manage your pipeline, and support customers through their first steps.

You need experience in approaching new customers and the willingness to spend time in your territory every week. You will manage your own activities, with training and support from SumUp.

What you'll do

  • Acquire new customers through personal visits, door-to-door acquisition, and direct approach.
  • You will focus on local businesses with high payment volumes that would benefit from SumUp's products.
  • You will ask questions about how each business operates and advise on suitable solutions regarding payments, card processing, hardware, POS, and software.
  • Guide the sales process from the initial conversation, including product demonstrations, handling objections, and closing the sale.
  • Help customers with the installation and onboarding of their SumUp products.
  • Build relationships with business owners and ask satisfied customers for referrals.
  • Plan your visits and follow-ups to make optimal use of your time in the territory.
  • Keep your CRM data up to date and track your activities, pipeline, and sales results.
  • Evaluate progress with your Territory Manager and apply feedback in practice.
