The role

At RTL Nieuws, we reach millions of people daily via our site, app, and social media. In a landscape where news constantly demands attention, we ensure that our journalism is not only seen but also truly makes an impact.

That is why we are looking for a Data / Distribution Editor: someone who combines journalistic instinct with data and has a sharp sense of what touches people. Someone who understands how stories find their way to the audience and how to increase that impact.

What you will do as a Data / Distribution Editor
As a Data / Distribution Editor, you are responsible for how our journalism lands with the audience and what its effect is. You constantly look at how stories can best be presented on our platforms and use data and insights to increase the impact of our journalism. These are your main responsibilities:

What you'll do

  • Together with the online editor-in-chief and compiler, you determine the presentation and prioritization of news on RTL Nieuws platforms (site, app, and social)

  • You test and optimize articles based on impact: from headline and thumbnail to timing and placement, in order to increase the impact of stories

  • You translate user data and insights into concrete editorial advice

  • You devise how stories can achieve maximum reach and effect, for example via push notifications, social media, SEO, and newsletters

  • You work closely with editors, social teams, and the editorial board to make stories stronger

  • You identify opportunities: which stories deserve more attention or a different approach to better reach the audience?
