What we're looking for

You have a higher professional/university thinking and working level and extensive experience (at least 10 years) as a senior software or platform engineer.
You have demonstrable experience with LLMs and AI agent tooling and understand concepts around, for example, context, tools, MCP, sandboxing, AI evaluations, and governance.
Your AI experience goes beyond using a coding assistant: you can build, integrate, and orchestrate AI agents and critically assess what works and what does not work in practice.
You have strong hands-on development experience, for example with Python and/or TypeScript, CI/CD, Git, and cloud environments such as Azure and/or AWS.
You have experience building reusable and maintainable platform facilities, where architecture, security, observability, and quality are part of your design.
You can provide sound substantiation for technical choices and oversee what these mean for, among other things, identity, access rights, isolation, logging, and recoverability.
You enjoy working across teams and disciplines and can support and bring development teams along in the use of the AI platform, also by making complex technical subjects understandable.

A salary of €4,488 to €7,515 gross per month (scale 61) (based on 36 hours - grading is based on work experience).
A 36-hour work week.

The role

Build the AI platform that enables development teams within NS to use AI safely, reliably, and scalably in software development.
Create the right technical foundation by providing AI with context, integrations, permissions, and testing, so that teams can go beyond just vibe-coding.
Bring AI and engineering discipline together: you ensure that agentic engineering can be deployed in a controlled manner and fits within the high quality and safety requirements of NS.

What you'll do

As Senior platform engineer AI, you will be part of the AI software Engineering Platform team. You build and manage the platform facilities that allow developers to easily and safely deploy AI for their software development. You make tooling, integrations, and reusable workflows available and build the necessary security, quality controls, and manageability into them. You will work on:

the management and enablement of AI tooling around SDLC, such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code.
Enablers required to deploy Agentic Software Engineering responsibly, such as workload isolation and security guardrails. You make coding agents deployable within NS engineering activities.
AI-SDLC metrics and dashboards that provide insight into AI usage around SDLC
Transformation from conventional SDLC to Agentic SDLC through engineering foundations such as Agentic platform capabilities: skills, MCP servers and the connections that make it all work, and approval gates at critical moments. You ensure that coding agents receive the right context and can execute the assigned actions, while NS developers remain in control.
Agentic applications that automate and orchestrate platform engineering activities
These facilities are provided as internal products to support the NS developer experience.
Helping DevOps teams with AI adoption in SDLC: you support pilots and tooling adoption, contribute ideas for NS use cases, and identify what they truly need.
An AI-SDLC governance platform for controlling and managing SDLC agents with facilities such as a plugins marketplace, governance controls, agent evals, and observability.

About the company & team

The Central Platform Organization (CPO) is part of NS IT and helps IT and business colleagues to do their jobs as well as possible. We provide IT services that form the foundation for an agile IT organization and thereby contribute to the digital services of NS.

You will join the AI Software Engineering Platform team within the Development Services cluster. The team builds the AI engineering platform that allows developers within NS to use AI coding agents, agentic SDLC capabilities, and facilities for AI-SDLC governance. In doing so, we build upon the existing Developer Platform: what already works well is maintained, and we add what development teams need to apply AI safely and reliably in their software development.

The team works from concrete challenges from development teams. We investigate where they encounter bottlenecks in the AI-SDLC, develop solutions for this, and test them in practice with users. For solutions that add value, we make them reusable and suitable for broader use within NS. In this, we work closely with, among others, architects and security specialists.
