Come do an internship at Kuehne+Nagel and get to know the dynamic and exciting field of ocean freight and logistics.

At Kuehne+Nagel in Rotterdam, we offer a dynamic and educational internship within our Sea Logistics department. Here you will get the chance to get acquainted with various aspects of ocean freight and logistics, working together with a team of professionals specialized in managing complex and specialized shipments. Various internship positions are available within the different departments.

Departments within Sea Logistics:

How to create impact

  • Documentation: Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation and management of all necessary transport documents. Think of bills of lading, customs documents, and certificates.

1. Operational Care Center (OCC)

  • Reefer: Specialized in the transport of temperature-sensitive goods. This team ensures the correct conditions during the transport of, for example, food, medicines, and flowers.
  • Booking Desk: Manages the bookings of freight shipments and ensures efficient planning and coordination of transports. They maintain contact with customers and carriers to ensure shipments proceed on time and as agreed.
  • Customs: Responsible for handling customs formalities and complying with all relevant laws and regulations. The team ensures that shipments pass through customs quickly and without problems.
  • Revenue Care: Focuses on optimizing revenue through correct invoicing and cost management. They analyze financial data and ensure the correct handling of payments and expenses.

2. CCL (Customer Care):
Provides support and service to customers, answers questions, and solves problems. The team ensures excellent customer satisfaction through proactive communication and fast solutions.

3. ISC (Integrated Supply Chain):
Responsible for integrating various logistical services to create a seamless and efficient supply chain. They coordinate between different departments and external partners to optimize logistical processes.

4. Sales:
Focuses on attracting new customers and maintaining relationships with existing customers. The team develops sales strategies and works closely with other departments to understand and fulfill customer needs.

5. Processes & Systems:
Responsible for developing and improving logistical processes and systems. They analyze current working methods and implement new technologies and methods to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the operation.

6. Trade:
Manages trade routes and ensures the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods worldwide. They analyze market trends and develop strategies to optimize trade activities.

7. Project Logistics:
Responsible for managing large, complex, or specialized shipments, such as exceptionally large cargoes or equipment that require custom transport solutions. They coordinate multimodal transport, risk analyses, and route planning. Their expertise ensures the successful delivery of project-specific cargoes within time and budget. They handle both sea and air shipments.

What we would like you to bring

  • Educational background: You are currently following a relevant MBO/HBO education in Business Administration, Logistics, Commercial Economics, or a similar field.
  • Logistical knowledge: Basic knowledge of logistical processes and sales is a plus.
  • Communication skills: Strong oral and written communication skills in both Dutch and English, with a customer-oriented and proactive attitude.
  • Team player: You function well in a team environment and have a positive and flexible attitude. You can work independently and responsibly, are eager to learn, and strive for continuous improvement.
