The role
You will be working within the Containerization & Virtualization (C&V) team of the Private Cloud department at KPN. This team builds, manages, and develops the Red Hat OpenShift platforms in the KPN datacenters. From those platforms, it provides container and virtualization services to KPN's internal application teams.
You will join the container platform team, a team of eight to ten colleagues. They work continuously to improve and stand for availability, quality, standardization, security, and innovation. Automation is the core of this: what can be automated, will be automated.
What you'll do
As an OpenShift / Kubernetes Engineer, you will work on the further development of the OpenShift container platform. You will not only focus on daily management. You will see where the platform can be improved, implement new functionality, and also set up new platforms.
What you are going to do:
- Building, expanding, and improving OpenShift clusters in various projects.
- Implementing new functionality and new platforms within the OpenShift stack, including the associated applications.
- Configuring, managing, and troubleshooting complex platform environments.
- Automating as much as possible with GitOps, Argo CD, Ansible, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Contributing to the reliability of the platform and solving problems structurally, rather than just addressing the symptom.
- Documenting knowledge and actively sharing it with your colleagues.
You switch smoothly between engineering, management, and project work. You work independently, but always as part of the team. We are explicitly not looking for a classic administrator, but for someone who, together with the team, builds an increasingly automated, standardized, and reliable platform.
Bedrijfsomschrijving
The team works largely from home and meets every Tuesday at the office in Groningen. You will also join them there on Tuesdays. Where else in the Netherlands you live does not matter.
