The role

Help build the most complex building management systems in the Netherlands

What you'll do

Do you want to be technically responsible for building management systems within challenging commercial and healthcare projects? At Johnson Controls, you will get the freedom and responsibility to successfully realize your own project portfolio. You will work on projects ranging from renovations of cooling plants to new construction projects within hospitals and other complex building environments.

From the UMCG new operating theater complex and MCL new hospital construction to WKO installations and data center environments: you ensure that technology, quality, and execution come together seamlessly.

As a Project Engineer Instrumentation & Control, you are the technical hub within the project team. You translate customer requirements into smart and reliable building management systems and ensure that all technical disciplines work together optimally.

You are responsible for the technical execution of projects, monitor quality and progress, and manage engineers, commissioning technicians, and suppliers. In doing so, you act as the technical point of contact for both the customer and the project team.

You report to the Project Manager and hold ultimate technical responsibility within your projects.

  • Designing and configuring building management systems and HVAC control installations.
  • Developing technical concepts, network topologies, and system architectures.
  • Technically coordinating projects from engineering to delivery.
  • Managing software engineers, hardware engineers, commissioning technicians, and suppliers.
  • Monitoring technical quality, scope, planning, and progress.
  • Identifying and reporting technical risks and scope changes.
  • Guiding FAT, SAT, ISAT, and other testing and delivery processes.
  • Selecting, ordering, and following up on materials for your projects.
  • Acting as the technical point of contact for customers throughout the entire project.
  • Supervising safe working practices and compliance with safety guidelines.

The projects

You work on diverse projects within healthcare, commercial buildings, and complex building environments.

Examples of projects include:

  • UMCG new operating theater complex
  • MCL new hospital construction
  • Nij Smellinghe WKO
  • KPN cooling plant renovation

Projects vary from approximately €25,000 to €3.5 million and range from a few weeks to several years.

Which technology will you work with?

You will enter an environment where modern building management systems and open protocols are central, including:

  • Metasys
  • CCT
  • MUI
  • KNX
  • BACnet
  • Modbus

When are you successful?

After approximately twelve months:

  • You will be independently responsible for your own project portfolio.
  • You will be the primary technical point of contact for customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • You will technically manage project teams averaging approximately 5 FTE.
  • You will independently monitor the quality, planning, and progress of engineering and commissioning.
  • You will deliver successful projects within the agreed scope, planning, and quality standards.

Do you recognize yourself in this?

You have experience in instrumentation & control, building automation, or HVAC control technology and want to carry technical responsibility within complex projects.

In addition, you have:

  • A technical education at HBO level (Higher Professional Education) or comparable working and thinking level.
  • Experience with engineering, work preparation, project coordination, or project engineering.
  • Knowledge of building-related installations and control technology.
  • Affinity with building management systems and HVAC automation.
  • Good communication skills towards customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • A proactive and independent working attitude.

Even if you are currently an Engineer or Work Preparer and want to take the next step towards Project Engineering, we would love to talk to you.
