The role

Invest-NL helps Dutch entrepreneurs by financing or making their plans financeable. However, the transition challenges in the Netherlands are vast and require more than just public capital. Close collaborations with private institutional parties are therefore essential.

As our new Relationship Manager Financial Institutions, you will involve institutional investors and financiers in our mission and, together with your relationships, make an emphatic contribution to a more resilient and innovative Netherlands.

What you'll do

We have since established a solid foundation of relationships with pension funds. You will ensure the further deepening of those relationships: you will learn what partners need and advance collaborations. You will take charge of conversations and trajectories such as the Dutch Impact Growth Fund and work on this together with experienced colleagues with whom you can brainstorm.

Within the insurer segment, there is still much to build and develop. Together with the team lead Financial Institutions, you will explore the market, build relationships, and develop collaboration opportunities. You will help shape our approach. Depending on the development of the segment and your growth, the responsibility for insurers may lie entirely with you in the long term.

In addition to your own relationship trajectories, you will support your senior colleagues with (strategic) relationship management activities, such as preparing conversations, elaborating financing proposals, and following up on agreements.

Additionally, you will actively identify opportunities for business development, connect insights from relationships to new financing solutions, and actively contribute to the development and realization thereof.

You are successful when relationships lead to concrete collaborations and both partners and colleagues know what the next step is. So that more private capital becomes available for the innovations and transitions that the Netherlands needs.

Invest-NL and our team are in full development. The direction is clear, but the approach and working methods are not yet fixed everywhere. Priorities can shift and collaborations require time. You will be given space to make proposals and adjust course, with the experience of your colleagues as support. You will coordinate strategic choices with the team lead.

This role suits you if you get energy from building something and also know how to make progress amidst uncertainty. You take initiative, actively seek out colleagues, and keep an eye on what is feasible.

Further duties are

  • Exploring investment needs and translating them into concrete proposals for collaboration with Invest-NL;

  • Supporting the two senior colleagues in relationship trajectories, from conversation preparation and the elaboration of proposals to practical coordination and follow-up of agreements;

  • Identifying developments in the institutional market and translating these insights into opportunities for the team;

  • Monitoring the progress of collaboration trajectories and contributing to the further development of our approach to relationship management.

You have

  • University (WO) working and thinking level with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or Higher Professional Education (HBO) working and thinking level with at least 8 years of relevant experience;

  • Demonstrable experience with relationship management, business development with institutional investors, or a comparable role in which you have built sustainable business relationships;

  • Experience with stakeholder management in a complex environment: you build trust, connect diverse interests, and create internal and external support for collaboration;

  • Affinity with financial issues and the role of capital in sustainable and innovative developments;

  • The curiosity and ability to further develop yourself in the institutional market. Knowledge of this market is a plus.

We offer

In our team, you can learn from experienced colleagues, contribute your own ideas, and visibly contribute to new collaborations. You will work in Amsterdam with committed colleagues, short lines of communication, and an open, informal atmosphere. Our employment conditions are also attractive:

About Invest-NL

In their own words

About the company & team

Financial Institutions is a new team within the Relations & Product Development department and forms the link between the institutional outside world and Invest-NL. Within this team, in close cooperation with two senior colleagues, you will build successful collaborations with pension funds, insurers, and banks every day. Our ambition: to enable these parties to invest more in the Netherlands by identifying and developing financing solutions.

You make our ambition a reality by bringing the needs of institutional investors inward and working together with your colleagues on suitable propositions and collaboration agreements through which private capital can be mobilized.

With this, you help further develop a new segment, within a team where you are allowed to help build from day one.
