Senior Compliance Officer

• at least 8 years of relevant work experience within compliance, legal, risk, or regulatory affairs in the financial sector, of which a substantial part is specifically within compliance;

• demonstrable knowledge of Dutch and European financial laws and regulations;

• experience within, for example, an investment firm, bank, broker, asset manager, fintech, or other regulated financial institution;

• a completed university degree (WO), for example in law, economics, finance, or a similar field;

• extensive experience with compliance monitoring, risk assessments, policy development, and regulatory change;

• good knowledge of AML/KYC, CDD, sanctions regulation, integrity risks, and governance;

• experience advising senior management and the board;

• excellent command of Dutch and English.

• preferably knowledge of capital market regulations such as MiFID II/MiFIR and related European regulations;

• preferably experience with regulators such as AFM and/or DNB;

GoldRepublic is looking for an experienced Senior Compliance Officer> who takes responsibility for monitoring and further developing compliance within our organization.

GoldRepublic has grown strongly in recent years. We now safeguard more than €1.5 billion in physical precious metals for our clients. With that growth, our responsibilities also increase. We want to continue entrepreneurship, develop new products and collaborations, and further improve our services, but always within the frameworks that belong to a professional and regulated financial enterprise.

Therefore, we are not just looking for someone who checks whether we comply with laws and regulations. We are looking for an experienced compliance professional who is involved early on, recognizes risks, dares to be critical, and at the same time understands how a commercial organization works.

As Senior Compliance Officer, you are an important substantive sparring partner for the board, management, and colleagues within GoldRepublic. You monitor the compliance framework, follow relevant developments in Dutch and European laws and regulations, and translate these into concrete consequences for our organization.

• advising the board, management, and various teams on compliance issues;

• maintaining and further developing the compliance policy, the compliance risk assessment, and the monitoring plan;

• executing and coordinating compliance monitoring and periodic checks;

• identifying, assessing, and reporting compliance and integrity risks;

• advising on AML/KYC, CDD, sanctions legislation, client acceptance, integrity, client protection, conflicts of interest, and governance;

• following relevant Dutch and European laws and regulations and ensuring that changes are implemented within GoldRepublic in a timely manner;

• assessing new products, processes, and services from a compliance perspective;

• advising on new commercial collaborations, partnerships, and marketing initiatives;

• contributing to controlled and integral business operations;

• further developing compliance awareness within the organization and providing training;

• preparing periodic compliance reports for the board, management, and other relevant stakeholders;

• acting as a substantive interlocutor for regulators, auditors, and external advisors.

In doing so, you work closely with various disciplines within GoldRepublic. Compliance is not separate from our daily practice. New campaigns, client processes, technology, partnerships, and product developments can all bring compliance issues with them.

We are therefore looking for someone who can not only indicate where a risk lies, but can also think along about how something can indeed be made possible within the applicable frameworks.

GoldRepublic makes it possible for private and business clients to buy, sell, and safely store physical gold, silver, and platinum. The precious metal is kept in professional vaults in the name of the client and remains the legal property of the client.

From Amsterdam, we work with a compact team on a platform that now serves a large group of clients. In addition, financial services, technology, marketing, and international developments surrounding precious metals come together.

Trust forms the basis of our product. Clients must be able to rely on their assets being safely stored, that processes are carefully designed, and that we act transparently and with integrity. Compliance plays a central role in this.

You are an experienced compliance professional who is used to bearing responsibility independently within a regulated financial environment. You can grasp complex regulations and are strong in translating them into practical and workable solutions.

You are analytical and careful, but not unnecessarily bureaucratic. You can operate independently and feel comfortable giving critical advice, even when that is not the answer someone was hoping for.

At the same time, we do not view compliance as a department that only says 'yes' or 'no' at the end of a process. We want you to be involved in the organization, understand why certain choices are made, and subsequently help to reach a good solution within the applicable frameworks.

GoldRepublic is entrepreneurial and the lines are short. That means developments sometimes move quickly and you must be able to switch easily between strategic and very practical issues. One day you are discussing the consequences of new regulations with the board, the next day you are looking at a new client process, an international collaboration, or a marketing campaign.
