  • a completed MBO education in Mechanical Engineering;

The role

Together, you build the most beautiful superyachts in the world. At Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw in Aalsmeer, specialists from dozens of disciplines work on yachts up to 95 meters long. Every detail counts - from the fuel system to the engine room and from the piping to the final test during the sea trial.

As a mechanical engineering planner, you ensure that technology, planning, and execution align flawlessly. Thanks to your work, all parts, drawings, and materials are in exactly the right place at exactly the right time. In this way, you keep the construction process running smoothly - and contribute directly to the end goal: a yacht that functions technically perfectly.

What you'll do

In this position, you will work on the construction of multiple superyachts simultaneously - complex projects in which everything revolves around timing, coordination, and quality. Your starting point is the six-week plan: what needs to happen in six weeks, and what is needed right now to make that possible?

You form the connecting link between engineering, procurement, and production. As soon as the engineers deliver their drawings, you check if everything is correct:

Afterwards, you ensure that production has all the necessary information in a timely manner:

You know exactly what is needed when in the engine room or the piping, and you prevent parts from being missing or arriving too late. In doing so, you work with kilometers of piping and hundreds of parts per yacht - from valves and flow sensors to pipes made of steel, stainless steel, Mepla, Mapress, and Cunifer.

The real work lies in communication. You know the language of the shop floor, switch gears quickly, and maintain an overview. You ask follow-up questions, think ahead, and always have a Plan B if something cannot be delivered on time. And if something changes in the system, you determine which parts belong to it.

"The most beautiful moment? The sea trial. When everything works as it should, you know that your preparation has made the difference." Vincent Zandbergen, Manager engineering& planning

This is what you will do as a Mechanical Engineering Planner

  • have the correct flanges, gaskets, and appendages been chosen?
  • are the materials seawater-resistant and suitable for use onboard?
  • bills of materials, drawings, and work orders with the correct equipment numbers;
  • material overviews that are linked to the warehouse and procurement.
