Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld (part of the Damen Shipyards Group) develops and sells predominantly Tugs and Workboats. Their hulls are produced from stock and subsequently customized to the customer. What you'll do
For Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld, we are looking for an HSE Officer Operations - part-time (16-24u) who focuses primarily on the daily execution and follow-up of safety processes within our organization. In this way, Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld continues to comply with laws and regulations, and we continue to work together towards a safe and healthy working environment.
This position is particularly operational in nature, meaning the focus is not on developing HSE strategies or determining corporate policy, but on actively supporting the organization in the execution, monitoring, and assurance of safety measures on the shop floor.
The largest part of your activities will consist of performing and following up on RI&E's and TRA's, registering and investigating incidents, managing hazardous substances, and processing, monitoring, and supervising actions within RDrive. You will be visibly present within the organization and form an important link between the shop floor and the HSEQ Manager. Naturally, improvement initiatives are highly valued, and we especially encourage you to bring them up.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
In your role as HSE Officer, you will be involved in the following set of tasks:
- Performing, updating, and following up on RI&E's and TRA's and monitoring the progress of improvement measures.
- Registering, investigating, and administratively following up on incidents, near misses, and safety reports.
- Processing, managing, and monitoring HSE-related actions, registrations, and reports in RDrive.
- Managing and following up on hazardous substances management, including registrations, documentation, and compliance with laws and regulations.
- Supporting workplace inspections and safety rounds and following up on the resulting actions.
- Promoting safety awareness on the shop floor through toolbox meetings, instructions, coaching, and guidance of employees.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
As an HSE Officer, you feel comfortable in an operational environment and derive energy from practically supporting colleagues in the areas of safety and health. You are visibly present on the shop floor, approach employees easily, and know how to translate safety issues into concrete improvement actions.
In addition, you bring the following knowledge:
- A completed MBO 4 or HBO education in the direction of Integral Safety Science, Intermediate Safety Science, or similar.
- Experience within an operational HSE, Safety, HSSEQ, or safety science role within a technical or industrial environment.
- Demonstrable experience with performing RI&E's, TRA's, incident investigations, and hazardous substances management.
- Experience with RDrive (or similar HSE management systems) is a strong advantage.
- In possession of a VCA-VOL certificate or willing to obtain this in the short term.
- Good command of the Dutch and English languages, both spoken and written.

- Accurate in administrative recording and follow-up of safety actions.

- Available for 16-24 hours per week.
- Willing to work fully on-site in Hardinxveld (working from home is not possible for this position).
