You have experience with policy development, policy advising, or research within a political-administrative, social, or cultural context.
You have knowledge of the cultural sector, various artistic disciplines, and the position of independent makers, collectives, and cultural institutions.

You feel comfortable in an environment where research, participation, cultural policy, and administrative advising converge.
The role
We are looking for a Policy Advisor Culture and Participation for an independent public organization in the cultural sector.
This organization supports an independent advisory board that advises administrators and elected officials on issues surrounding cultural policy, cultural participation, and the development of the cultural sector. From an independent and objective position, the bureau provides research, analyses, and policy advice that make developments, bottlenecks, and opportunities within the cultural landscape insightful.
As a policy advisor, you play a central role in gathering, analyzing, and translating signals from cultural practice. You focus on the position of makers, cultural institutions, and informal initiatives, and ensure that insights from the field are processed into policy advice in a methodical and objective manner. In doing so, you contribute to future-proof cultural policy and a strong connection between policy, practice, and society.
What you'll do
You conduct policy-oriented research into issues within art, culture, cultural participation, and the creative sector.
You build substantive dossiers for both requested and unsolicited policy advice.
You translate research results, meetings, and consultations into clear, factually correct, and well-substantiated draft advice.
You facilitate and support working groups, thematic tables, expert meetings, and other forms of participation substantively.
You design and guide consultation and participation processes with makers, cultural institutions, and other stakeholders.
You monitor developments, needs, innovations, and bottlenecks within the cultural sector and the practice of makers.
You structure and analyze qualitative input from conversations, meetings, and city-wide consultations.
You ensure an objective and careful translation of signals from the cultural field into policy recommendations.
