Security Engineer

A suspicious login, a newly discovered vulnerability, or a suspicious email. As a Security Engineer, you investigate what is happening, take practical measures, and verify whether they work. In this way, together with your colleagues, you help to secure Baker Tilly's IT environment a little bit better every day.

As a Security Engineer within Baker Tilly's internal IT department, you investigate reports from the Security Operations Center (SOC) and our security platforms. You review the available information, ask a colleague what happened where necessary, and determine what follow-up is required. You involve the Security Manager if the severity or scope warrants it. Within the department, we work as one team: we share knowledge, help each other, and tackle issues together.

You discuss incidents and vulnerabilities with the IT team or a supplier and coordinate together on which measures are needed. You monitor the progress and check whether the solution reduces the risk. Do you see the same finding recurring? Then you investigate the underlying cause and think along about a structural solution. You provide the Security Manager with insight into what is happening and work closely with the Service Desk, Privacy Officer, the SOC, and external suppliers.

For audits, you collect technical substantiation and provide information for risk analyses and reports. You help assess new applications for security aspects. You also enjoy supporting colleagues with practical questions about working safely and translating findings into awareness activities and advice that they can truly act upon.

You work there with colleagues from various fields and can easily drop by each other's desks to consult briefly. Within the IT department, we also actively seek each other out and work as one team towards a secure and well-functioning environment.
