Requirements

What we're looking for

We are looking for someone with seniority. Someone who has at least 5 years of experience by now and is broadly deployable within primary veterinary medicine.

You are a true all-round veterinarian and enjoy handling various types of cases. At the same time, you may have a field of expertise in which you want to further specialize.

Do you have experience with surgery and/or dentistry? Then that is a great advantage.

But perhaps your strength lies somewhere else.

We are primarily curious about what you are good at and what you want to become even better at.

The role

Are you an experienced veterinarian who is now practicing independently and is ready for a place where you can truly apply your knowledge, experience, and ambitions?

A place where, as an all-round veterinarian, you see a wide variety of cases, get room to deepen your expertise, and become part of a team that is there for one another?

Then we would love to meet you.

A place for a veterinarian who can and wants to work independently

We are not looking for a veterinarian who needs a colleague for every decision.

What you'll do

For our clinics in Den Helder and Schagen, we are looking for an experienced and all-round veterinarian for 32-36 hours per week. Would you prefer to work fewer hours? That is, of course, negotiable.

You will primarily work from our location in Den Helder. Occasionally, in consultation, you will also work at our location in Schagen. This allows you to benefit from the knowledge, expertise, and patient variety of both teams.

And perhaps even more importantly: we want to know where YOU want to go.

Why this vacancy is different

With us, you don't have to choose between a friendly primary care practice and an environment where you can challenge yourself professionally.

You get both.

Our clinics in Den Helder and Schagen work closely together. As a result, we have a wide range of patients, various expertises, and extensive diagnostic possibilities.

In Den Helder, you will work within a team of 5 veterinarians and 10 veterinary nurses. In Schagen, the team consists of 3 veterinarians and 6 veterinary nurses.

Together we form one region in which we share knowledge and experience with each other.

We offer, among other things:

  • Primary and secondary veterinary medicine

  • Modern diagnostics, including digital and dental X-rays, ultrasound, and extensive blood analysis

  • Gas anesthesia and extensive monitoring

  • Two operating rooms

  • Expertise in, among others, internal medicine, surgery, oncology, cytology, and dentistry

  • A Cat Friendly Silver Standard clinic in Den Helder

  • A motivated and engaged client base

  • Space to further develop yourself and build your own expertise

Not a standard role. But many possibilities.

As a veterinarian with us, you will have a versatile role in which you can fully utilize your experience and independence.

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

  • Conducting consultations and office hours;

  • Primary patient care;

  • Internal medicine;

  • Surgery;

  • Dentistry;

  • Ultrasound and other imaging;

  • Extensive diagnostics;

  • Guiding and treating more complex cases;

  • Advising and guiding pet owners;

  • Further developing your own area of expertise.

Your area of interest does not have to remain a hobby alongside your work. It can become part of your work.

For example, if you have a lot of experience with surgery or dentistry and want to do more of that, we will look together at how we can create space for it.

To us, senior does not mean: doing everything alone

We find experience and independence important. But being senior also means to us that you share knowledge, help colleagues, and are part of the team.

You are not alone here.

We learn from and with each other daily and actively seek collaboration between Den Helder and Schagen. Where necessary, you can always brainstorm with colleagues and make use of the expertise within the region and the broader AniCura network.

As part of AniCura, you are also part of a large network of veterinarians, European-recognized specialists, and highly specialized colleagues at home and abroad.

Knowledge sharing and development are central. You therefore have plenty of opportunities for internal and external training, both nationally and internationally.

Your work, your balance

Being an experienced veterinarian does not mean you have to fit into a standard schedule every day.

We believe it is important that you can combine your work well with your life outside of it.

The position is for 32-36 hours per week. Would you prefer to work fewer hours? We would be happy to discuss this with you.

We are also happy to think along regarding shifts. We have minimal shifts and ensure good guidance and support.

Because ultimately, we believe it is important that you are not only good at your profession, but that you can also continue to do it with pleasure and energy.

Who are you?

We are looking for a veterinarian who is confident in their profession and likes to take responsibility.

You are:

  • A qualified veterinarian;

  • At least 5 years working as a veterinarian;

  • An independent and all-round primary care veterinarian;

  • Customer- and animal-friendly;

  • Strong communicator;

  • Collegial and involved;

  • Eager to learn and ambitious;

  • Resilient to stress;

  • Willing to share your knowledge and experience with colleagues.

Experience with surgery and/or dentistry is an advantage.

What do you get from us?

You can count on:

  • An experienced and involved team of veterinarians and veterinary nurses;

  • A versatile range of patients;

  • Primary and secondary veterinary medicine;

  • Modern equipment and extensive diagnostic possibilities;

  • A lot of independence within your role;

  • Room for personal and professional development;

  • Opportunities to deepen your own area of interest;

  • Internal and external training opportunities;

  • A good balance between work and private life;

  • 32-36 hours per week, fewer hours negotiable;

  • A workplace primarily in Den Helder, and in consultation sometimes in Schagen;

  • Excellent employment conditions in accordance with the AniCura Employment Package.

Does this sound like your next step?

Perhaps you are not necessarily looking for a new job.

Perhaps you are primarily looking for a place where your experience is utilized, your independence is valued, and you can continue to develop yourself professionally.

A place where, as a senior veterinarian, you not only treat patients but also can add something to the team and the further development of the clinic.

Then we are curious about you.

Apply directly via the application button or contact us first without obligation.
