The role
The world is changing rapidly, and our role is changing with it. Within Detecting Financial Crime (DFC), we are committed to protecting the integrity of the financial system by combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and corruption. By combining expertise, technology, and innovation, we strengthen our impact in detecting and preventing financial crime. We are looking for a talented Java Backend Engineer who is curious, quality-oriented, and driven to build secure and scalable solutions. Through your work, you will contribute directly to the protection of our customers, society, and the bank against financial crime. Because financial crime is constantly evolving, alertness, innovation, and adaptability remain central to everything we do.
What you'll do
As a Java Backend Engineer within Detecting Financial Crime (DFC), you will develop and improve KYC solutions within a DevOps environment, with a strong focus on Java backend development. You will work together with multidisciplinary teams to realize secure and scalable applications and, where relevant, make use of Azure cloud services.
Your profile
You are a true team player: you support team members through guidance, collaboration, and coaching. You have a DevOps mindset and know how to effectively apply Agile and Lean methodologies to increase team productivity. You communicate clearly and concisely, so that we understand each other well. Additionally, you are continuously focused on improvement: you proactively ask questions, perform code reviews to promote project quality and personal development, and are always willing to learn and apply new technologies and frameworks.
Our ideal candidate possesses the following technical qualifications and skills:
• At least 5 years of demonstrable experience in IT engineering and Java development (Java 21/25), building scalable applications based on Spring Boot, JPA, and RESTful APIs.
• Strong expertise in debugging, logging frameworks, and monitoring with Azure Application Insights to ensure the reliability and performance of applications.
• Experience with the use of Generative AI tools (such as GitHub Copilot) to increase development speed and code quality.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration with Docker is required. Knowledge of Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure PaaS services, such as App Service, Functions, Storage, Key Vault, and Application Gateway, is a plus.
• Experience with designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps to automate and optimize build, test, and deployment processes.

Do you want to help build the next generation of solutions for detecting financial crime? Do you have a passion for Java backend development, designing scalable applications, and delivering high-quality software within a DevOps environment?
