The role
In short
Do you want to discover how privacy works in practice within a large organization during your studies? Are you curious about what happens when personal data does not end up in the right place, what rights customers have over their own data, and how a bank ensures that privacy rules are actually complied with?
For the In Control Monitoring Centre (ICMC), we are looking for an enthusiastic intern who wants to learn a lot and simultaneously wants to actively contribute to our team.
You will support the team with Client Rights, Data Breaches, and international transfer of personal data (Schrems II) and work on both daily execution and process improvements. These are core processes that form the foundation of Privacy management within ABN AMRO.
You do not need to be a privacy expert yet and work experience is not required. We find it especially important that you are curious, work carefully, and love learning new things.
Your work
Depending on your interests and development, under supervision you will:
- supporting the processing and registration of data breach notifications;
- supporting requests from customers and other data subjects who wish to exercise their privacy rights;
- helping with the correct administrative recording of notifications and requests;
- monitoring and maintaining work queues and deadlines;
- collecting and structuring information needed for the handling of a privacy issue;
- supporting activities surrounding the international transfer of personal data and Schrems II;
- analyzing how existing processes run and where opportunities for improvement lie;
- developing improvement proposals;
- thinking along about ways in which activities can be organized more smartly, clearly, or efficiently;
- collaborating and observing various privacy professionals within the team.
The activities are supportive, clearly defined, and emphatically have a learning component.
Your profile
You:
- is pursuing a HBO (higher professional education) or WO (university) degree;
- is curious and entrepreneurial;
- has an interest in privacy, law, compliance, or process improvement;
- works carefully and in a structured manner;
- enjoys collaborating and is open to feedback;
- proficiency in the English language is a plus
Specific privacy knowledge or previous work experience is not necessary. We find motivation, ability to learn, and an entrepreneurial mindset more important.
We offer
You will get the chance to gain practical experience within the privacy domain and learn from experienced colleagues. You will become acquainted with privacy legislation and operational privacy processes such as Client Rights, Data Breaches, and international transfer of personal data (Schrems II). You will be given the space to work increasingly independently during your internship. At the same time, you will also receive plenty of support. Every intern is paired with two seniors in the team: an internship coordinator with whom you align your learning goals and who helps you find your way in the company, and a substantive senior privacy expert who is involved in the assignment.
Interest
Do you want to discover how privacy works in practice during your internship and simultaneously make a concrete contribution to our team? Then we would love to meet you.
Above all, tell us what you want to learn, what you are curious about, and why this internship appeals to you.
