The role

Supporting your Buying team so that you sell the best items at the right price in the right place! That is your focus as Buying Assistant Kidswear. The Kidswear team consists of 17 driven colleagues who are responsible for the success of our Boyswear & Girlswear collections. Together with a Buyer, Buying Manager, Designer, and Merchandiser, you are responsible for a part of the collection. How do we work? A new collection is developed based on data and the latest trends. After that, our Buyers determine how we can best manufacture this collection, at the right price, with the right suppliers, and with the right planning. For this, we also travel to European or Asian countries to see with our own eyes which colors or fabrics are being used and whether work is being done in a socially responsible manner. The fun thing about WE is that all products are developed entirely in-house. From the first pencil sketch until it hangs in the stores. In doing so, we work closely with Design, Merchandise, Marketing, E-commerce, and our WE stores. In short: Better Together!

From the first trend to the collection that eventually hangs in the store: as an Assistant Buyer, you are closely involved in the entire purchasing process of our Menswear collections. Together with your buyer, designer & merchandiser, you translate trends and sales data into collections that suit our customer and have the right price tag.

You support the buyer in everything needed to get the collection into the stores at the right time, at the right price, and with the right quality. In doing so, you work closely with various other departments within WE Fashion (such as the ECOM department) and our (international) suppliers, and you maintain an overview of the various purchasing tasks and deadlines.

You ensure that the purchase orders are processed correctly in our purchasing system and that all details are correct. During fitting sessions, you pay sharp attention to details and make comments. Subsequently, you communicate this with our suppliers so that they know exactly what is needed to ultimately produce the product as well as possible.

Even after the goods have been delivered, you remain involved with the collection. You prepare various meetings and support the analysis of the sales results of our Menswear collections. What sells well? Where are the opportunities? And what can we take into a next collection?

In this role, you combine commercial insight, organizational talent, and your interest in Menswear. A versatile position in which you work together with different teams on collections that children and their parents want to see.

What you'll do

What else can you expect from the job?
As a Buying Assistant, you are an important link in the Buying team and provide support to your Buyer. Think of efficiently executing all purchasing activities and buying tasks.

  • You check purchase orders for correctness and ensure they are entered into our purchasing system.
  • You actively participate in the fitting sessions; you draft the comments for the production samples for the suppliers.
  • You review new articles and discuss the results with your team.
  • You are responsible for preparing the weekly Top-Flop presentation and offer support in analyzing the sales results.
  • You handle the registration and sorting of all samples for various purposes such as photoshoots and e-commerce.
  • Finally, you have regular contact with the many international suppliers we work with.

YOU WORK FOR WE AS A BUYING ASSISTANT

What we expect from you?
You are a multi-tasker and we offer you a challenging job with a wide range of tasks. Therefore, we find it important that you maintain an overview, set the right priorities, and do not overlook anything by paying attention to details. What else you bring to the table...

  • Finally, you are a born team player with a positive work attitude and a healthy dose of ambition!

Hiring process

As soon as we receive your application, we will send you a confirmation email. In light of the COVID-19 virus, we are continuously adapting to the rules and guidelines from the RIVM. Within two weeks, you will hear if you are invited for a (digital) interview with our Head of Buying Kids. This is followed by a second (digital) conversation with a colleague. If this also goes positively, you will also meet your future team (digitally). If we are all enthusiastic then, we warmly welcome you as a new WE colleague! A check in the Retail Warning Register (FAD) is part of our application procedure.
