The role
Commercially driven. Hospitality in your heart and soul. Always looking for more!
Do you see commercial opportunities where others do not yet see them? Do you get energy from growth, strong deals, creative ideas, and results that count? And do you, as an experienced hospitality professional, know how to translate commercial ambitions into satisfied guests, loyal clients, and a healthy return? Then at Theaterhotel Almelo, there is a commercial challenge waiting for you to sink your teeth into!
Theaterhotel Almelo is anything but a standard hotel. Hotel stays, theater, business meetings, events, gastronomy, and special leisure concepts come together with us. A world of possibilities, target groups, and commercial opportunities. The challenge is yours to see those opportunities, connect them smartly, and utilize them to the maximum.
We are looking for a Sales & Marketing Manager with experience, ambition, and courage. A commercial leader who loves to build, who couples strategy with decisiveness, structure with creativity, and commercial sharpness with sincere hospitality. Someone who not only knows what is needed today, but especially sees where the opportunities lie for tomorrow.
Your challenge: converting commercial opportunities into results
What you'll do
As Sales & Marketing Manager, you are responsible for the commercial objectives of Theaterhotel Almelo. You help determine the commercial course, develop strong business relationships, attract new clients, and know how to convert opportunities into concrete results. In doing so, you look beyond revenue alone: you understand how to translate commercial growth into sustainable returns.
You think strategically, but you are just as eager to be in the middle of the action. You know when to analyze, when to pivot, and when you simply need to pick up that phone to close a great deal.
You bring focus and structure, but you do not let yourself be limited by them. Because often, the most beautiful opportunities lie just outside the beaten path.
You lead two marketing employees and two Meetings & Events employees, and you supervise an intern. You know how to develop talent, how to make people enthusiastic, and how to constantly raise the bar together. You provide direction, set clear priorities, and create space for individual initiative and craftsmanship.
You report directly to the management, actively participate in thinking about the further development of Theaterhotel Almelo, and have a direct influence on our commercial ambitions and results.
What will you do?
Determine strategy. Create opportunities. Realize results.
● You develop an ambitious, realistic annual commercial plan and translate this into clear objectives, concrete actions, and budgets.
● You strengthen existing business relationships and know how to use your commercial instinct to target new clients and market opportunities.
● You negotiate sharply and professionally regarding corporate contracts, rates, and commercial collaborations. You know how to close a good deal and build a sustainable relationship.
● You manage the Meetings & Events team in a result-oriented manner, with attention to quote follow-up, conversion to bookings, upselling, and a flawless handover to the operational departments.
● You coach and inspire our marketing employees and ensure that creative campaigns are not only attractive but also contribute to concrete commercial objectives.
● You bring cohesion and focus to the marketing support of our various outlets and stimulate smart cross-selling between the hotel, Meetings & Events, and our other concepts.
● Together with the supervisors of Toucan Fit Boutique and The SpareRoom, you bear responsibility for the revenue growth of these concepts. You see commercial opportunities, develop new possibilities, and help convert these into concrete results.
● You work closely with the Valk Service Center in the areas of marketing, revenue management, and corporate sales. You utilize the shared expertise and commercial possibilities to optimally serve both the business and private markets, strengthen hotel occupancy, and maximize returns.
● You keep revenue, return, occupancy, forecasts, and campaign results sharply in view. You analyze, identify opportunities, and actively adjust to improve commercial performance.
● You consciously seek connection with colleagues on the work floor. Because you understand that commercial success only truly has value when promises are kept and guests have an excellent experience.
Who are we looking for?
An experienced commercial leader who does not wait, but thinks ahead.
You have earned your stripes in sales and marketing and know the dynamics of the hospitality industry from the inside out. You know how to develop a commercial strategy, how to build relationships, how to get teams moving, and above all: how to convert plans into results. You are ambitious and result-oriented, without losing sight of the human side. You have a sense for hospitality, understand what motivates clients, and know how to recognize and capitalize on commercial opportunities. You love structure, clear goals, and measurable results. At the same time, you dare to challenge existing ways of working, introduce new ideas, and go that extra step.
You possess natural authority, take responsibility, and bring people along through enthusiasm, expertise, and decisiveness.
What you bring:
● HBO or WO level of work and thinking, preferably in hotel management, commercial economics, marketing, or a similar field.
● At least five years of relevant commercial work experience. You are an experienced professional who can provide direction independently and demonstrably adds commercial value.
● Demonstrable work experience within the hospitality industry, preferably in hotels. You understand the industry, the guest, and the commercial dynamics.
● A strong affinity with hospitality, the hotel experience, and the versatility of catering, meetings, and events.
● Extensive experience with corporate accounts, active relationship management, and commercial negotiations. You know how to convert opportunities into valuable collaborations.
● Demonstrable experience with leadership, coaching, and team development. You know how to motivate people and achieve better performance together.
● Sound knowledge of marketing and a sharp insight into how sales, marketing, and revenue reinforce each other.
● Financial and analytical insight. You understand the numbers, see what they mean, and know how to translate them into targeted commercial actions.
● Experience with CRM systems and insight into hotel and reservation processes.
● A good command of the Dutch and English languages.
And perhaps most importantly: You celebrate achieved results, but at the same time, you are already looking ahead. What can be smarter? What can be better? Where are the new opportunities? And how can we achieve it together?
What do we offer?
A commercial management position with substance, variety, and plenty of opportunities to truly make a difference.
