The role

Technology, customer contact, and smart solutions come together in this role. As a sales engineer, you are the link between the customer, sales, and engineering. You translate customer wishes into thoughtful technical designs and sharp cost calculations. In doing so, you are always looking for the best technical and commercial solutions. You will be given plenty of room to further develop yourself, and there are great growth opportunities towards a coordinating role within the department.

What you'll do

This is what you will do
As a sales engineer, you design and calculate technical installations based on specifications and other source documents. You then create a cost estimate that aligns with the customer's request. You are able to empathize well with the wishes and needs of the customer and present options and alternatives to arrive at an optimal proposal, carefully weighing what is technically and commercially feasible.

You select the materials and installation components and request quotes from suppliers and subcontractors. You evaluate these critically so that you can advise on the best choices based on cost, quality, and technical applicability.

You also remain involved during execution. You prepare the handover document for execution and participate in work meetings that are important for the project. Finally, you are actively involved in the project evaluation, where you contribute ideas for improvements. You identify points for improvement to increase the quality of the design, the calculation, and customer satisfaction. Your main tasks at a glance:

  • Translating the customer wish into technical calculations and descriptions;

  • Creating calculations and quotes;

  • Drafting sales budgets and quotation letters;

  • Handling order processing, including order confirmation and project administration for small and medium-sized projects.

Growth path
In the long term, you can grow into the role of team coordinator, in which you also take on coordinating tasks within the department (such as organizing the division of work and driving standardization), contribute to the development of the department, and become a point of contact for the sales organization.

Requirements

What you bring
You feel involved in the projects, show initiative, and feel responsible for laying a good foundation in the projects. As a true team player, you communicate easily with colleagues and external project partners. Of course, you don't need to know everything yourself, but you do know when to involve which expertise and you make smart use of the knowledge around you.

You are eager to learn and want to continue developing, both in your position and within the department. Additionally, you are analytically strong and decisive, which helps you make well-founded choices. You work independently and in a structured manner and can handle the hectic nature within a project well. Furthermore, we ask for:
