The role

At Royal Van Lent Shipyard, we build the most exclusive superyachts in the world at our yards in Kaag and Amsterdam. We can only do this when everyone works safely.

That is why we are looking for an HSE Officer who is visibly present on the work floor, supports employees in working safely, and ensures that safety and environmental objectives are complied with.

As an HSE Officer, you are the first point of contact for everything related to safety, health, and the environment within your project. You are involved in the entire construction process, from the hull to the final delivery of the yacht.

You are present on the work floor daily, carry out inspections, identify risks, and address colleagues when necessary. At the same time, you advise managers and employees on procedures, laws and regulations, and practical safety issues.

You know how to get people on board with improvements and ensure that agreements are not only made, but also actually complied with.

The HSE department consists of ten colleagues spread across our locations in Amsterdam and Kaag. You report to the HSE Manager and work closely with project teams, production departments, and other disciplines within the organization.

  • At least five years of experience in an HSE role.
  • Experience within a production, construction, technical, or industrial environment.
  • Good command of the Dutch and English languages.
  • You are visible on the work floor and dare to address colleagues and managers regarding safe working practices.
  • You can assess risks, implement improvements, and provide clear substantiation for them.
  • A valid BHV certificate (Emergency Response) or the willingness to obtain it.
  • A Gas Measurement certificate or the willingness to obtain it.
  • Strong digital skills and experience with safety software, reporting, and administrative processes.
  • Flexibility in working hours and work location.
