The role

Every year, an average of two superyachts leave the dry docks of Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw. These luxury yachts are completely custom-made. They stand out due to the high quality of construction, engineering, and finishing.

As a Yacht Painter-Sprayer, you play an important role in that. Thanks to your work, the yacht looks beautiful inside and out. You also protect the wood and metal. Can you apply a perfect layer of lacquer?

What you'll do

As a Yacht Painter-Sprayer, you work together with your colleagues toward a perfect end result. You give the yacht its shine: from a bare hull to a smooth layer of lacquer.

"From putty to topcoat: you bring the entire yacht to the highest level."

  • As soon as the yacht's hull arrives at the shipyard, your work begins. You check the hull and the upper part of the yacht for imperfections. After that, you sand and apply putty layer by layer, until everything is tight and smooth.
  • Then the painting work begins. You first spray primer layers and showcoats. After that, you apply the topcoat. This final layer of lacquer gives the yacht its luxury appearance.
  • You do not only work on the hull and the upper part of the yacht. You also sand, putty, spray, and lacquer individual parts of the yachts.
  • You work with high-quality products, such as two-component lacquers. You do this in tents or spray booths that keep dust and dirt out.

You work in the Painting department and receive direction from the Painting Team Leader. Together with a tight-knit team of skilled painters, you ensure that every yacht reaches the highest level: from construction to the final glossy layer.
