The role

Job description

As a (Senior) Manager within Financial Services, you will work for leading national and international financial institutions, including banks, insurers, asset managers, pension funds, investment funds, private equity firms, and FinTechs.

The financial sector is in constant motion. New tax laws and regulations, changing supervisory expectations, international restructurings, transactions, sustainable investments, and technological developments create challenging tax issues. Within EY, you help clients translate these developments into practical, future-proof solutions.

Do you have extensive experience in international tax advisory practice and the ambition to play a visible role both technically and commercially? Additionally, do you want to contribute to the development of junior colleagues and the further growth of our practice? If so, we would love to meet you.

The challenge

As a (Senior) Manager, you will work on strategic tax trajectories within a complex and regulated sector. Think of restructurings, investments, transactions, financing structures, dividend tax and withholding tax issues, tax governance, and other developments affecting financial institutions.

You combine technical depth with a sense for commerce and leadership. This makes you a strong interlocutor for clients and colleagues, and you provide direction to advisory trajectories in which multiple disciplines and countries converge.

As you bring more seniority, the emphasis lies more strongly on independently leading complex assignments, expanding client relationships, and identifying opportunities in the market.

Our team - Different backgrounds, one ambition

You will become part of the Financial Services Tax team in Amsterdam, within the broader International Tax practice of EY Netherlands. Within Financial Services Tax, we work closely together in the areas of direct tax, indirect tax, transaction tax, tax planning, tax reporting (including FATCA/CRS), and tax compliance. This broad expertise ensures a dynamic practice in which collaboration, knowledge sharing, and an integrated client approach are central.

Together with an ambitious and technically strong team, you will work on challenging assignments for leading organizations within the financial sector. In doing so, you will regularly collaborate with EY colleagues from other countries and with specialists from other disciplines. Personal growth and development are central, with plenty of room for your own initiative, entrepreneurship, and building an international network.

What you will do

  • Advising financial institutions and investors on complex Dutch and international direct tax issues.
  • Leading and coordinating advisory projects, including restructurings, transactions, investments, financing, and tax position management.
  • Translating tax developments into clear, practical, and commercial advice for clients.
  • Managing project teams and collaborating with colleagues from other tax disciplines, Assurance, Consulting, Strategy and Transactions, and Law.
  • Maintaining and further expanding client relationships, including identifying new opportunities within existing and new client relationships.
  • Guiding, coaching, and developing consultants and senior consultants within the team.
  • Monitoring quality, deadlines, budgets, and clear documentation of work performed.

What we are looking for:

  • A completed Master's degree (WO) in Tax Law or Tax Economics.
  • Preferably completion of the training of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers (NOB) or a comparable professional tax qualification.
  • For Manager: approximately 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in international tax advisory practice.
  • For Senior Manager: more extensive relevant experience and demonstrable experience in independently managing complex assignments and client relationships.
  • Interest in the Financial Services sector and the ambition to further develop yourself.
  • Strong technical knowledge of corporate income tax and international taxation, preferably supplemented with experience in the areas of restructurings, withholding tax, financing, transactions, tax governance, or tax position management.
  • Experience with project management, coaching, and guiding less experienced colleagues.
  • A professional, critical, and quality-oriented attitude, combined with commercial drive.
  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English.

  • Home office arrangement: EY supports you in properly setting up your home workspace, including with an office chair, sit-stand desk, external monitor, desk lamp, headset, and external keyboard.
  • Laptop and smartphone: you will receive a laptop and smartphone with a business subscription.

  • Training: EY believes it is important that you continue to develop. You can participate in soft and hard skills training, tax training, international training, and external courses.
