Network Operations Engineer

• HBO (Higher Professional Education) level of work and thinking, preferably with a completed degree in Computer Science or similar.
• At least three to five years of demonstrable management experience within complex enterprise IT infrastructures.
• Recent hands-on knowledge of Cisco Nexus and Arista switching and routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS.
• Experience with Check Point and Palo Alto firewalls, A10 load balancers, and Aruba ClearPass and Wireless.
• Experience with Ansible or a similar form of network automation is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills, risk awareness, and the ability to act systematically and result-oriented under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English and the persuasiveness to make boundaries, risks, and advice clear.
• You are flexible, professional, and a true team player who takes responsibility for an appropriate customer solution.
• You use AI-supported analysis and documentation only in a controlled manner and in accordance with security guidelines.

Certifications and additional knowledge: Certifications in the field of Cisco, Arista, Check Point, Palo Alto, Aruba, or network automation are a plus.

What you will do as a NetOps Engineer (Hands-on)

As a hands-on NetOps Engineer at Capgemini, you will ensure the availability, performance, and security of a complex network infrastructure for an independent, cross-border operator of the national high-voltage grid in the Netherlands and a large part of Germany. You will combine operational management with in-depth troubleshooting and structural improvements in an environment where 24/7 continuity is essential.

In this role, you will work on:

• Implementing improvement projects focused on the availability, performance, security, and manageability of the IT infrastructure.
• Performing daily management and technical changes on enterprise networks and associated management platforms.
• Monitoring and supervising network availability and performance, including proactive analysis of trends and risks.
• Investigating and resolving complex second- and third-line incidents in collaboration with internal teams and external service providers.
• Drafting change proposals, implementation plans, incident reports, and structural solution directions.
• Automating recurring network management activities, including with Ansible.
• Working according to Agile methodologies and ITIL processes and participating in a 24/7 on-call service when necessary.
