The role

Do you enjoy translating data into actionable input and are you ready for a smashing start to your career? As a Junior Data Scientist, you will sink your teeth firmly into technology to optimize existing insights by coming up with solutions. Of course, you won't do this alone. You will work in a team of ICT professionals, each with their own expertise. Colleagues from whom you, as a Junior Data Scientist, can learn a great deal.

How you'll work

Hours: 32-40

Location: Utrecht / hybrid / client location

Experience level: Junior

What you will do as a Junior Data Scientist

As a Junior Data Scientist, you help organizations extract more value from their data using data, AI, and modern cloud technology. You combine analytical thinking with a hands-on technical approach. In doing so, you work not only on developing insights but also on building, implementing, and improving solutions that are used directly by customers. Together with experienced data scientists, data engineers, software engineers, and architects, you will grow into a versatile professional within the AI and data domain.

In this role, you will work on:

  • Developing data and AI solutions that support organizations in making better decisions
  • Building and improving applications, dashboards, AI models, and automations that allow customers to extract more value from their data
  • Writing maintainable and testable code and progressively professionalizing solutions: from experiment or notebook to a reusable application or service
  • Integrating data from various sources and developing, deploying, and monitoring scalable solutions on cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure
  • Working with software engineering principles and development processes, including version control, code reviews, testing, and CI/CD, under the guidance of experienced colleagues
  • Experimenting with and applying new technologies, including generative AI, machine learning, and intelligent agents
  • Collaborating in multidisciplinary project teams at leading organizations, where you develop solutions from idea and prototype to implementation and management.

Your profile

You have:

  • A completed (or nearly completed) university or applied sciences degree in an IT, Data, or STEM field.
  • Experience with or a strong affinity for programming, preferably in Python and SQL.
  • Basic knowledge of or demonstrable interest in statistics and machine learning, and experience working with data from various sources (e.g., during your studies or an internship).
  • A broad, curious outlook on AI: you are open to developing yourself towards AI Engineering alongside classical data science.
  • Flexibility: you work on-site at our clients' locations and are open to taking on new techniques, roles, and responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills in Dutch and English, through which you make technical insights understandable for non-technical stakeholders.

* These criteria provide an indication of the profile we are looking for. If you do not meet all the criteria but believe this is the right function for you, we cordially invite you to apply or get in touch anyway.

Your work environment

As a motivated Junior Data Scientist, you contribute by translating data into valuable insights that serve as input for the customer's decision-making. You help build tools that allow customers to make better use of their data and are (co-)responsible for delivering high-quality solutions within the agreed lead times. Additionally, you specialize in analyzing data, integrating data from various sources, or setting up complex reporting structures, from source data to annual reports. You develop yourself into an independent professional who takes on the challenge of creating smart solutions and advising on them. In doing so, you participate in diverse projects both independently and as part of a team.
