Nice to have

Experience at a bank, asset manager, or other financial institution is a strong plus. Knowledge of Credit Risk, Finance, IFRS 9, BCBS 239, regulatory reporting, credit portfolios, data quality, or transaction reporting will give you a clear advantage.

The role

Varrlyn is a consulting firm which was founded in 2010 and is based in The Netherlands. We help financial institutions with system implementations and provide some serious application support, concentrating on the way they process transactions and deploy reporting applications.

Varrlyn has a proven track record: we have worked for financial institutions in Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Paris, New York, Frankfurt, and Sydney. We help improve cost efficiency, simplify application architecture, optimize time to market, enhance straight-through processing, and ensure compliance with financial regulations. In other words: You do the deal, we’ll do the project.

What you'll do

As a Senior Data Engineer at Varrlyn, you will work on complex data issues within Finance, Credit Risk, and Regulatory Reporting. You will bring together data from various financial systems, build robust data pipelines, and ensure that reports are complete, timely, and auditable.

You will work at the intersection of banking, data engineering, finance, and risk. Precisely the terrain where Varrlyn makes the difference.

  • Designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines
  • Unlocking and integrating data from financial, credit, and transaction systems
  • Developing data models for Finance, Credit Risk, and Regulatory Reporting
  • Making financial and credit risk data suitable for analysis, modeling, and reporting
  • Improving data quality, data lineage, and auditability
  • Collaborating on modern data warehouse and cloud solutions
  • Translating business requirements into sustainable technical data solutions
  • Investigating and structurally resolving discrepancies in financial and risk data
  • Collaborating with finance professionals, credit risk specialists, business analysts, architects, and DevOps teams
  • Contributing to reports and change programs regarding, for example, BCBS 239, IFRS 9, and capital requirements

Make financial and credit risk data reliable, scalable, and usable

Banks and asset managers must be able to rely fully on their data. For financial steering, credit risk models, capital calculations, and reports to regulators. That requires data engineers who look beyond technology alone.
