What we're looking for

  • HBO or WO background in engineering, business administration, project management, econometrics, technical business administration, or similar.
  • 3–6 years of experience within project controls, planning, risk management, or a similar role.
  • Demonstrable experience in preparing and managing project schedules (e.g., in Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Experience with risk analyses (qualitative and quantitative), including probabilistic models and P50/P90 analyses.
  • Experience within technical projects, infrastructure, energy, construction, capital-intensive projects, or industrial environments is a plus.

Nice to have

  • Proficient in planning software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of risk tools such as Safran Risk, @Risk, Primavera Risk Analysis, or similar.
  • Strong Excel skills (incl. formulas, pivot tables, charts, data analyses).
  • Understanding of project controls principles: planning, risk, cost, progress, baseline management, and change control.
  • Experience with dashboards (Power BI is a plus).
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies such as PRINCE2, PMI/PMBOK, or IPMA.
  • Certifications in planning, risk, or project controls are an advantage (e.g., PMI-SP, AACE, MoR).

What you'll do

We are currently looking for an experienced Project Controls Consultant (Planning/Risk) to strengthen our team in the Netherlands. You will work on challenging projects for leading international clients. In addition to this project, you will have the opportunity to be involved in some of the most leading and significant programs and portfolios in the Netherlands. Our projects are complex, iconic, and offer a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative development trajectories.

You have experience within project controls, specifically in the areas of planning, risk management, and progress reporting. Additionally, you have the ambition to further develop yourself within a dynamic, data-driven, and external environment.

As a Project Controls Consultant (Planning/Risk), you are responsible for:

  • Setting up, maintaining, and analyzing detailed project schedules (e.g., in Primavera P6 or MS Project).
  • Preparing integrated planning overviews for programs and projects.
  • Monitoring critical paths, milestones, and progress trends.
  • Performing planning analyses, scenario analyses, and forecasting.
  • Performing qualitative and quantitative risk analyses, including probabilistic models.
  • Determining and communicating P50 and P90 scenarios for planning and/or costs.
  • Facilitating risk sessions and stakeholder workshops.
  • Advising on risk management measures and impact on planning and project objectives.
  • Preparing periodic reports on progress, planning, risks, KPIs, and performance.
  • Implementing governance structures around planning and controls.
  • Ensuring compliance with project controls processes within all projects or programs.
  • Supporting assurance activities and audit processes.
  • Performing data analyses to identify trends, deviations, and optimizations.
  • Developing and implementing improvement plans to increase value, predictability, and performance.
  • Capturing lessons learned and contributing to the continuous improvement of methodologies and tools.
  • Actively collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, both locally and internationally (EMEA or worldwide).
  • Acting as a point of contact for planning and risk-related topics towards the client and internal teams.
  • Supporting internal commission management (forecasts, baseline monitoring, scope changes, information management).
  • Advising at a tactical level on progress, risks, and project control.

  • Strong analytical ability and capable of converting complex data into clear insights.
  • Proficient in probabilistic analyses and forecasting.
  • Able to identify deviations and propose effective solutions or mitigating measures.

4. Communication & Collaboration

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to explain analyses and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder management skills, with the ability to switch between different levels.
  • Team player who collaborates effectively within multidisciplinary and international project teams.

5. Personal characteristics

  • Proactive and independent, with ownership over own tasks and deliverables.
  • Accurate and structured, with an eye for detail and structure.
  • Flexible and able to work in dynamic, changing project environments.
  • Eager to learn and willing to further develop in project controls.
