Specialist Grower

• An education in plant cultivation, horticulture, or a similar field, preferably at MBO level; demonstrable relevant experience can also replace this.
• Practical knowledge of cultivation, fertilization, irrigation, and climate control.
• Experience with floriculture, perennials, propagation, or seed production is a clear advantage.
• An independent, proactive working attitude and the ability to maintain an overview in a small location with multiple crops.
• Basic skills with administration and computer systems, for example for planning, registrations, and inventory management.

Additionally, it is a plus if you possess a spraying license and/or forklift certificate. Knowledge of organic crop protection, phytosanitary regulations, and working with a climate computer will help you to be successful quickly in this role.

At Syngenta Flowers, you will work on crops that form the global foundation for strong, healthy floriculture production. For our cultivation site, we are looking for an independent Specialist Grower who takes ownership of the cultivation of Helleborus and various other perennial crops. You will be given plenty of freedom to organize your own day, make decisions in the greenhouse, and have a direct influence on quality, planning, and results. As a Specialist Grower, you are responsible for the daily guidance, monitoring, and adjustment of the cultivation. The focus lies on Helleborus, but you will also work with various other crops and starter material for other locations. You ensure that the crops grow under the right conditions, with the correct irrigation, fertilization, crop protection, and climate settings. Ultimately, it all revolves around one goal: producing sufficient high-quality seed according to the agreed standards.

In this role, you will be involved in, among other things:

• Daily crop monitoring: identifying what the cultivation needs and adjusting water, fertilization, and climate, including via the climate computer.
• Executing and optimizing cultivation activities such as potting, transplanting, crop care, applying crop protection, cleaning, and preparing greenhouses for new crops.
• Planning and organizing greenhouse layout, cultivation administration, inventory management, and ordering items such as pots, potting soil, and other necessities.
• Participating in weekend shifts, averaging once every three to four weeks for a maximum of one hour per day, and in the breakdown service schedule that is distributed within the team.
