Storage Architect

As a Storage Architect, you are responsible for designing, developing, and realizing storage solutions within a complex private cloud environment.

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

• Defining storage architectures according to Secure by Design principles.

• Translating operational needs and program requirements into technical designs.

• Designing and implementing storage solutions within private cloud environments.

• Integrating storage with compute, virtualization, security, PKI, and IAM.

• Developing strategies for cyber resiliency, backup, and disaster recovery.

• Establishing standards, reference architectures, and quality criteria.

• Guiding domain architects, engineers, and implementation teams.

• Identifying risks and advising on technological developments.

• Participating in the Design Authority and co-deciding on architecture choices with high impact.

• Monitoring lifecycle management, continuity, availability, and scalability of storage services.

The Role

You are an experienced architect who can think strategically and possesses sufficient technical depth to actually get designs realized.

• A key role within the largest IT program in the Netherlands.

• Contributing directly to the digital resilience of Defence.

• Challenging architecture issues in the fields of private cloud, storage, and cyber resilience.

• Collaborating with a strong team of architects, specialists, and Defence experts.

• Room for innovation, knowledge development, and personal growth.

• Working with the latest storage, cloud, and automation technologies.

Additional security requirements apply to this position:

• You possess a Dutch passport.

• You are willing to successfully undergo a VGB-B security screening.

• You are available at a Defence location at least two days per week.

Who You Are

• 5 years of experience as a Storage Architect within complex enterprise environments.

• Experience with large infrastructure or transformation programs.

• Knowledge of architecture methodologies such as TOGAF.

• Strong communication skills in both Dutch and English.

• Experience with stakeholder management at operational, tactical, and strategic levels.

• A combination of leadership, entrepreneurship, and team orientation.

You have extensive experience with:

• Network Attached Storage (NAS)

• Block Storage

• Object Storage

• Backup & Recovery

• Storage Virtualization

• Cyber Resiliency

• Storage Security

• Lifecycle Management

In addition, you have knowledge of:

• Nutanix and virtualization platforms

• Cloud storage services within AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform

• Automation and Infrastructure as Code (for example, Ansible)

• Reference architectures and vendor blueprints from leading storage providers

You actively follow market developments and know how to translate innovative technologies into practical solutions for Defence
