At AS Watson, the company behind Kruidvat, Trekpleister and ICI PARIS XL, we are looking for a Data Science Team Leader who combines technical expertise with coaching leadership. In this role, you will lead a team of six data scientists and personally contribute to building smart, advanced models and algorithms that strengthen our strategic and operational decision-making.

You will work closely with the other data teams to turn data science ideas into solutions that make a real impact on our stores, customers, and processes. You will be part of our Data, Insights & Analytics department, consisting of four teams: Decision Analytics, Data Analytics & Enablement, Data Engineering and, of course, Data Science.

What will you do in the role of Data Science Team Leader?

• You will work on projects that make a difference, such as optimizing ordering and delivery schedules for branches, building a robust sales forecast (which is not easy with so many promotions), and helping marketing with predicting buying behavior so that we can send personalized promotions.
• You provide direction to the Data Science team, coach team members in their technical and professional growth, and contribute hands-on when things get complex.
• You develop and monitor the data science and modeling strategy, determine technical priorities, and influence the roadmap from a data science perspective. You help stakeholders and teams to apply data science effectively and create support for data-driven decisions.
• You design and review machine learning and statistical models, ensuring their quality, reliability, and impact.
• You help the organization prioritize which data science use cases deliver the most impact and drive methodologically strong solutions. You present insights convincingly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
