The role

As a Java Solutions Engineer, you are responsible for designing, building, and delivering robust and optimized backend solutions. You work end-to-end: from translating business requirements into technical designs to deployment into production. In doing so, you make use of modern technologies such as Java 21 and Spring Boot.

You develop and manage services within a cloud-native AWS environment, working with PostgreSQL and containerization via Docker. Within a microservices architecture, you take ownership of your services and actively monitor code quality. You ensure that solutions are not only reliable, but also highly maintainable and optimally observable.

In this role, you make technical choices independently and are able to provide clear justifications for them. You document architectural decisions, for example using Architecture Decision Records (ADR) and according to domain-driven design (DDD) principles. You actively contribute to the development of scalable systems and apply modern practices such as contract-first development and event-driven architecture.

In addition to development, you also work on the underlying infrastructure and delivery pipelines. You make use of tools such as Terraform and CI/CD solutions to set up a stable and efficient development pipeline. You contribute ideas for improvements in the platform and observability, for example in environments where Kubernetes and modern monitoring tools are deployed.

Collaboration is central: you actively participate in code reviews, design sessions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives such as pair programming, mob sessions, and workshops. You have a proactive attitude and signal bottlenecks and risks in a timely manner, so that you contribute to a healthy and effective delivery flow.

Additionally, you play a role in incident management by participating in incident handling, root cause analyses, and post-mortem sessions, with the goal of continuous learning and improvement. You encourage the responsible use of AI and development tools, validate the output, and share best practices with the team.

You also contribute to the growth of the team by being involved in recruitment and interviews and by mentoring less experienced engineers in their development.

description

  • You are a true software craftsman: you write clean, testable code, deliver work with sufficient automated testing, and view quality as essential for sustainable development
