The role

A lamp that doesn't work. A door that sticks. A leak. A workspace that needs to be rearranged. In our distribution center, something requiring attention happens every single day.

What you'll do

And then we come to you.

As a Facilities Maintenance Worker, you ensure that these kinds of reports do not get ignored. They come to you via our ticketing system. You look at what is happening and determine the best solution. Can you do it yourself? Then you grab your tools and get to work. Is specialist knowledge required? Then you call in one of our suppliers.

It doesn't stop there for you. You keep track of which reports are still open, make appointments with suppliers, and ensure that work is actually carried out. Because passing on a report is one thing. Ensuring that the problem is solved, that is what it is all about.

You work in our hyper-modern mechanized distribution center in Nieuwegein. A large building where a lot happens every day and where colleagues must be able to rely on everything just working.

Turn customers into fans as a Facilities Maintenance Worker

You don't need to be a seasoned maintenance technician with us. We are primarily looking for someone who is handy, enjoys solving things, and takes responsibility.
Your duties are very diverse.

Among other things, you will be busy with:
- Small repairs and maintenance tasks that you can safely perform yourself;
- Simple electrotechnical tasks, such as replacing a lamp or other small materials;
- Picking up and maintaining reports in the ticketing system;
- Calling in suppliers for tasks that require specialist knowledge;
- Making appointments and monitoring that suppliers carry out their work in a timely manner;
- Practical jobs in and around the building, for example when (re)arranging office spaces;
- Keeping your administration tidy, so that you and your colleagues always know what still needs to be done.

One moment you are working with tools, an hour later you are sitting behind your computer to arrange a supplier. It is precisely that combination that makes this job fun.

Together, entrepreneurship, and winning

, that is our Jumbo DNA. You see something that is not working correctly and think: we are going to solve that.
Sometimes you do that yourself. Sometimes you know exactly that you need to bring in someone who has more expertise.

You are practically minded and have two right hands. But you are also someone who keeps your affairs tidy. A list of twenty open reports does not intimidate you: you know what has priority, what has already been arranged, and what you still need to follow up on.

You really don't need to be able to do everything already. We find it more important that you are curious, dare to take responsibility, and enjoy learning new things. Your colleagues will be happy to help you along the way.

And in addition:
- You have an MBO level of working and thinking;
- You have technical insight and enjoy performing small repairs yourself;
- You can work well with a computer and find it natural to keep your work administratively up to date;
- You communicate easily with colleagues and suppliers;
- You are willing to obtain NEN 3140 VOP, VCA VOL, and your forklift/reach truck certificate (if you do not have them yet) at Jumbo's expense;
- You are available on call for emergencies according to a roster outside of working hours (for a fee)

For specialist electrotechnical work, we call in skilled colleagues or external specialists. We therefore do not expect you to perform tasks for which you are not authorized.

Responding to your wishes

A practical position with a lot of freedom and responsibility, in which you are not sitting behind a desk all day and also not standing with tools in your hands all day. You work together with colleagues who help each other and get the space to constantly become more skilled in what you do.

  • A salary between €2,680 and €3,150 gross per month (at Jumbo, we pay every 4 weeks)
  • 25 days off and 8% holiday allowance.
  • A bicycle plan.
  • An allowance for your travel expenses (€ 0.21 cents per kilometer with a max. of 35 kilometers one way).
  • Targeted training and education within our own Jumbo Academy.
  • The opportunity to obtain your NEN 3140 VOP at Jumbo's expense;
  • The possibility to participate in our collective health insurance.
  • 10% discount on all your groceries, which we pay out via your salary. Plus extra benefits in the Jumbo Extra's app.

So facilities maintenance worker

do you see a job lying there and do your hands already start to itch a little? Then we would love to meet you.
