Requirements
What we're looking for
Experience in Life Sciences & Health, preferably with a focus on biotech, manifested in a demonstrable network and track record in the biotech ecosystem;
The ability to recognize systemic and market bottlenecks, analyze them, and translate them into new propositions, financing models, programs, or forms of collaboration that contribute to scaling up and impact;
A completed university degree (WO) in a financial, economic, biomedical, pharmaceutical, medical, or life sciences direction;
Excellent command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written
The role
We believe that the Netherlands must become more sustainable and innovative. Fortunately, there are many entrepreneurs with good plans for the future. Invest-NL is here to finance them and help them on their way. We do this with courage, decisiveness, and enthusiasm. Will you help us?
The Life Sciences & Health (LSH) team within the Market Development department would like to expand with an experienced (medior) Market Development Manager with an interest and network in biotech.
What you'll do
You develop new solutions for financing bottlenecks (market-, demand-, or value chain-driven) and public-private partnerships within the Life Sciences & Health sector;
You develop strategic analyses, market visions, and plans of approach for business cases within Life Sciences & Health, with biotech as a specific area of focus;
You identify financing and scaling-up bottlenecks in the market and translate these into concrete propositions, forms of collaboration, or financing solutions that contribute to the acceleration of promising innovations;
You develop and support innovative initiatives by bringing relevant parties together and utilizing knowledge, networks, and expertise to enable scaling up, implementation, or financing;
You initiate and develop collaborations between startups, scale-ups, investors, knowledge institutions, governments, ROMs, funds, and other relevant parties within the Life Sciences & Health ecosystem;
You work as a development partner alongside policymakers, entrepreneurs, investors, and other stakeholders on complex market issues and financing bottlenecks within Life Sciences & Health and biotech;
You represent Invest-NL within the biotech ecosystem and actively contribute to the further development of our network and our market position.
About the role
Market Development is the development arm of Invest-NL that supports companies, financiers, and governments in solving market and financing bottlenecks surrounding innovation, demand creation, and scaling up. Within Market Development, the Life Sciences & Health team is dedicated to developing financing solutions, collaborations, and market interventions that contribute to an affordable, available, and future-proof healthcare system. In doing so, we focus on innovations and initiatives that make healthcare future-oriented and improve the accessibility of care.
In this role, you will set markets in motion where social impact is high and financing, scaling up, or collaboration does not yet occur sufficiently automatically. A dynamic in which you work at the intersection of innovation, market development, and financing, with biotech as the focus area.
The LSH team is a small team (3 FTE) with great ambitions within an organization that is fully in development. This role requires someone who gets energy from pioneering, switches easily between strategy and execution, and feels comfortable in an environment where issues, propositions, and collaborations are still under development.
You are
Motivated to realize innovations and make an impact within the healthcare sector. You have an affinity with financial issues, are analytically strong, and know how to set smart priorities within your own field of work. You get energy from unknown and complex systemic issues within the LSH sector and are a connector by nature. You bridge the different interests in the healthcare sector, private investors, institutional investors, and public financiers with ease and pleasure to truly enable systemic changes.
You know how to reduce complex market, policy, and financing issues to clear choices and concrete next steps. You are a self-starter, take ownership, and know how to create progress even without a fully developed mandate or process. At the same time, you are flexible and collegial: you move with changing priorities, think along outside your own area of focus, and help colleagues as a critical sparring partner on other LSH themes.
You have
You do not need to be a financial expert, but you have a demonstrable affinity with financing issues and the development of solutions in which public and private financing options are effectively combined;
We offer
As a Market Development Manager at Invest-NL, you will work together with an enthusiastic team on a better future. This is what it really feels like! Count on a pleasant and open atmosphere, inspiring work, and plenty of room to develop yourself. We love challenges, both professionally and in sports. Our employment conditions are also attractive.
Salary: between € 5,336 to € 6,905 per month based on 36 hours, whereby it is also possible to work 40 hours. Classification is based on knowledge and experience;
Flexibility in compensation: Benefit Budget worth 20.95% of your monthly salary. This consists of 8% holiday allowance, 8.33% year-end bonus, and a personal budget of 4.615% representing statutory extra leave (86.4 hours per year based on your 36-hour work week);
Leave: Attractive and flexible leave arrangements;
Growth: A generous training budget and plenty of room for personal input and development;
From A to Sustainable: Sustainable mobility policy including private use of public transport;
For the day of later: Good pension (including a 2% personal contribution and a high employer contribution (the amount depends on your age and is between ~15% and ~35%);
Work where you want: Flexibility regarding working hours and location and up to 2 weeks of remote work per year;
Room for social involvement: up to 2 impact days per year for volunteer work during working hours;
While not an employment condition, certainly just as important: driven colleagues to work with. Having a joint and healthy lunch twice a week, regular outings, and sporting activities (for example, Cycling 4 Climate, running races, and padel tournaments).
Are you the one we are looking for?
Then we would love to receive your application before November 21, 2026! Our selection procedure consists of 2 rounds. You will receive a response to your application no later than 2 weeks after the closing date.
