The role

Do you want to provide direction to the design of complex technical installations starting from the tender phase? Are you able to bring technical installations, civil infrastructure, and buildings together into one integral and manufacturable design? Then the position of Design Lead Technical Installations is for you.

What you'll do

As Design Lead Technical Installations, you will lead the design of technical site installations within large-scale multidisciplinary projects with values of hundreds of millions of euros. Think of energy supplies, data and communication networks, public lighting, and underground cable and pipeline infrastructure.

From the start of the tender, you bring structure to the design process. You organize the collaboration between disciplines, monitor the planning, design choices, risks, and interfaces, and ensure an integral, safe, and manufacturable design. In doing so, you work closely with designers, engineers, work preparers, cost experts, tender managers, project leaders, and specialized installation partners.

You monitor the coherence between technology, civil infrastructure, buildings, planning, costs, and execution, and ensure that all disciplines work together towards a manageable and executable design. Even after the tender, you remain involved to further develop the chosen solutions towards realization.

This will be your job

Your duties include:

  • Leading the Technical Installations design team;

  • Coordinating internal and external design teams;

  • Establishing and monitoring the design strategy, planning, and organization;

  • Organizing design and interface sessions;

  • Monitoring design choices, risks, quality, planning, and manufacturability;

  • Connecting technical disciplines with civil engineering and execution;

  • Assessing designs and technical proposals;

  • Reporting on progress, risks, and decision-making.

This is where you belong

You combine technical knowledge with leadership and know how to connect different disciplines. You maintain an overview, take initiative, and ensure that complex design processes proceed in a controlled manner.

In addition, you bring the following:

About Dura Vermeer

In their own words

About the company & team

Dura Vermeer is an independent family business. And you can feel that. In how we work together, look out for one another, and build with an eye for future generations. Since 1855, we have been building in the Netherlands, in residential construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, and technology. Our independence and long-term vision form the foundation for this.

With a turnover of € 2.6 billion and over 3,700 colleagues, we are among the top of the Dutch construction sector. But ultimately, it is not about those figures for us. It is about people. About colleagues working together on projects you can be proud of—iconic and close to home—and contributing to solutions for societal issues.

Our ambitions are great. And we only achieve them with engaged people. That is why we invest in good employerhood and a work environment in which you feel at home. Where you can be yourself, feel safe, and speak up. So that you get the best out of yourself and make more together with us.

You will become part of the Technical Installations department within the Design cluster of Dura Vermeer Infra National Projects. Together with approximately 140 colleagues, you will work on the largest multidisciplinary infrastructural projects in the Netherlands, such as tunnels, bridges, locks, energy projects, water treatment plants, and high-voltage installations.

Within the project, you will work closely with colleagues from design, execution, and project control. You will be given plenty of room to provide direction to the design process and can rely on experienced colleagues and technical specialists. Depending on the project, you will work on-site, from a Dura Vermeer office, or from home.
