The role

Do you want to brew beer that all of Amsterdam can be proud of? Do you get energy from technology, craftsmanship, and a production process that can get just a little bit better every day? And do you want to work in a completely new brewery with modern installations?

At Brouwerij 't IJ, we have been brewing quirky Amsterdam specialty beers since 1985. Think of IJwit, Zatte, IPA, and Blondie. This autumn, we are opening our completely new brewery, equipped with modern installations and built to brew our beers even better and more efficiently in Amsterdam.

For this new location, we are looking for a Brewer who wants to build the future of Brouwerij 't IJ together with us.

What you'll do

As a Brewer, you are responsible for the entire brewing process. From processing the raw materials to the transfer to the filling lines. You monitor the process, perform checks, and ensure that every batch is brewed according to recipe, schedule, and our quality standards.

No two days are the same. You are involved with technology, process control, quality, cleaning, and maintenance. At the same time, you maintain an overview and intervene when the process requires it.

  • Operating, setting up, and monitoring the brewing installation from raw material to transfer to the filling lines.
  • Monitoring the brewing process and adjusting where necessary to achieve a stable and consistent production.
  • Performing quality controls and process measurements and checking whether the beer meets the set specifications.
  • Weighing and processing raw materials according to recipe and ensuring correct registration of production data.
  • Identifying, analyzing, and resolving minor technical malfunctions. You independently perform first-line technical tasks and call in the technical service when necessary.
  • Performing CIP and cleaning activities on the installations.

Because the brewery and installations are new, you will have plenty of room to contribute ideas regarding processes, standards, and improvements. You will not only help build our beers, but also the way we run the new brewery on a daily basis.

What is in your vat?

Additionally:

  • You have an mbo+ level of work and thought, preferably in a technical, process technology, or food technology direction.

Ready to brew along?

Does it appeal to you to become part of the team behind the beers of Brouwerij 't IJ AND help build our new brewery?

Then apply via our website or send us a message. Do you have questions first? Feel free to contact Leona van Leeuwen via leona.vanleeuwen@duvel.nl.
