The role

Are you a veterinarian and are you noticing that you are becoming increasingly enthusiastic about diagnostic imaging? Do you want to look just a little bit longer at that ultrasound, do you want to understand what you are seeing, and would you like to seriously develop yourself further in this field? Then we at AniCura De Tweede Lijn offer a unique opportunity.

We are starting a one-year Diagnostic Imaging internship, in which you will receive intensive guidance and training within our veterinary hospital. You will combine working and learning within diagnostic imaging with clinical work within our emergency clinic.

You certainly do not need to have extensive experience with ultrasonography yet. We are specifically looking for a veterinarian who has the motivation and curiosity to further develop in this area. We will train you!

What will this year offer you?

During the internship, you will work approximately 50% of the time within diagnostic imaging. You will be trained internally and guided by our Diagnostic Imaging specialist (Dipl. ECVDI) and ESAVS certified veterinarian-sonographer, and you will get the opportunity to build upon your knowledge and practical skills step by step.

The emphasis lies on ultrasonography, but within a referral clinic, you will naturally come into contact with the full breadth of diagnostic imaging and with diverse, often interesting and complex patients.

Some experience with ultrasonography is a plus, but for us, your interest, eagerness to learn, and motivation to develop yourself in this field are much more important.

The other 50% of your time, you will participate in our emergency care (day, evening, and night). This allows you to remain broadly clinically active as a veterinarian and gain a lot of experience with acute and complex patients. Moreover, you will learn to work in an environment where emergency care, diagnostics, and various veterinary disciplines work closely together.

Learning in a veterinary hospital

De Tweede Lijn is a referral clinic and emergency clinic where various disciplines work together under one roof. Training and sharing knowledge are important parts of our daily work.

That means you will not only learn from our Diagnostic Imaging specialist (Dipl. ECVDI) and ESAVS certified veterinarian-sonographer, but you will also become part of an environment in which veterinarians and veterinary nurses easily seek each other out, discuss cases, and work together to try to provide the best care for a patient.

We find it important that you can ask questions, are allowed to discuss mistakes, and feel safe to learn.

Who are we looking for?

For this internship, we are looking for a veterinarian with approximately 2 to 3 years of clinical work experience who has developed a specific interest in diagnostic imaging, and ultrasonography in particular, and wants to specialize in it.

The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • becomes enthusiastic about diagnostic imaging and ultrasonography;

  • wants to learn and is open to intensive guidance and feedback;

  • has already built a good clinical foundation as a veterinarian;

  • enjoys continuing to work within emergency care alongside imaging;

  • enjoys collaborating and feels at home in a collegial team;

  • is curious and motivated to develop themselves significantly over the course of a year.

And after that year?

The internship is offered for a duration of one year.

Our approach is emphatically not to train someone for only one year and then say goodbye. With mutual satisfaction and proven suitability, we strive for a long-term employment relationship, where further specialization in ultrasonography is among the options.

Interested? We would love to meet you and tell you more about the internship, our team and working at AniCura De Tweede Lijn. If you have any questions, please contact our Talent Acquisition Specialist Robin Pape via email: robin.pape@anicura.nl
