How does the Buying department at WE work? Based on analyses and the latest trends, Merchandising, Design, and Buying work together on the development of the newest collections. Once all items, details, and colors have been aligned, Buying gets to work. The Buyer knows how and where we can best manufacture this collection, at the right price, in the perfect quality, with the right suppliers, and with the right planning. For this, you have a lot of contact with international partners regarding, among other things, colors, fabrics, and socially responsible working practices. The fun thing about WE is that we develop all products entirely ourselves. From the first pencil sketch until it hangs in the stores. Good collaboration with Design, Merchandising, Marketing, E-commerce, and our WE stores is essential in this process. In short: Better Together.

The Menswear team consists of driven colleagues who are collectively responsible for the success of the collections. As a Buyer, you have a leadership role towards the Buying Assistant. You take the lead and are commercially responsible for your part of the collection. You report to the Head of Buying.

As Buyer Menswear, you play a key role in the development and procurement of our Menswear collections. In this role, your focus lies entirely on Outerwear. You are responsible for the entire procurement process, from selecting high-quality fabrics and negotiating sharp prices to creating production plans and choosing the right suppliers. Your suppliers are located in, among other places, China, Bangladesh, Cambodia, and Turkey, and you maintain these relationships both digitally and during regular visits. In doing so, you negotiate on price, quality, and delivery terms, while closely overseeing compliance with our quality and CSR standards.

In this role, you provide strategic input and work closely with the Design and Merchandising departments. Based on market analysis and trend insights, you translate the needs of our consumers into concrete collections. Together with Merchandising, you draw up a strategic plan to offer the right products at the best locations and times and actively adjust during the season to optimize results.

Additionally, you manage a Buying Assistant, who is responsible for order processing and administrative support. You maintain the overview, keep the purchasing system accurate and up-to-date, and use data to provide analyses and reports. This enables you to respond quickly to changes and work continuously on process improvement.

In this role, you report directly to the Buying & Merchandising Director Menswear.

• Together with your design colleague, you ensure an innovative collection and strengthen our position in the European market.
• Together with merchandising, you build a strategic plan in which the right product in the right color is sold in the best locations. Naturally, this results in a concrete collection plan with ambitious objectives.
• Adjusting in-season! You keep a sharp eye on developments and your objectives during the season, signaling and responding to new commercial opportunities in a timely manner.
• Sourcing and supplier management! You are in continuous contact with our suppliers in, among other places, China, Bangladesh, Cambodia, and Turkey to develop the collections and invest in the relationship. Additionally, you search for the very best new suppliers for WE Fashion. You look not only at the most attractive price and the reliability of the supplier, but you also keep a sharp eye on our quality and CSR requirements.
• Negotiating! The most fun part of your job! You negotiate on the basis of price, quality, and delivery terms and ensure the very best deal.
• To stay well-informed about the wishes of our customer, you often visit WE stores. Contact with the customer and the people on the floor ensures that you enrich yourself with the right information to align the collection even better with the wishes of the customer.
• Analyzing and Reporting! The Buying Assistant helps you with order processing and administrative tasks. However, you hold ultimate responsibility and oversee keeping the purchasing system up-to-date so that you can perform the right analyses, provide good reports, and adjust quickly if necessary.
• Finally, every day you are busy with the latest developments in the market. You know what the trends are for the coming season and where you can score the best fabrics. You regularly visit trade fairs and know the market.
