  • A position for 32 to 40 hours per week with Meppel as the location.

  • A gross salary of € 4,900 to € 7,000 per 4-week period, paid in 13 periods (depending on your knowledge, experience, and age)

  • Growth opportunities towards larger projects, tender management, or project management.

  • An informal organization with short lines and plenty of room for personal initiative.

The role

Give direction to the infrastructure of your region
From innovative polder projects in Flevoland to complex infrastructural challenges in the Veluwe and the Kop van Overijssel. In this position, you will get the chance to make a visible difference in one of the most versatile regions in the Netherlands.

Do you want to bear responsibility for challenging infrastructural tasks and also receive the freedom to make your own choices in them?
At KWS, as a Project Leader, you not only get the space to realize beautiful works, but also to actively help build the development of your region. You maintain long-term relationships with clients, develop your team, and have a direct influence on how projects are prepared, organized, and executed. No long decision-making processes and no organization where everything is already fixed. Instead, an environment where entrepreneurship, trust, and craftsmanship are central.

Your challenge
As a Project Leader, you are ultimately responsible for the successful realization of infrastructural tasks within your working area. You connect clients, project teams, stakeholders, and the environment. You create overview, bring structure, and ensure that different interests come together in a strong end result. You monitor the project result and simultaneously fulfill an important role as a leader. You coach colleagues, create ownership within teams, and ensure that people can get the best out of themselves.

What you'll do

It is precisely that combination of technology, entrepreneurship, and leadership that makes this position interesting.

This is what you will do
You ensure that people, resources, and interests come together in successful infra projects. That means, among other things, that you:

  • Lead large and smaller projects from the tender phase to delivery;

  • Manage safety, quality, planning, and financial results;

  • Build sustainable relationships with clients and translate opportunities into new work;

  • Build strong and independent project teams;

  • Ensure support among stakeholders and the environment;

  • Are responsible for an optimal result for both the client and KWS.

You largely determine for yourself how you organize your work and are supported in this by experienced site managers, work preparers, and technical specialists.

What kind of tasks will you work on?
As an experienced project leader, you seek tasks that continue to challenge you. And that is exactly what you will find in this region. You work in an area with a unique contrast. On one side, Flevoland: the youngest province in the Netherlands and an impressive feat of human engineering. On the other side, the Veluwe and the Kop van Overijssel: an extensive area rich in forests and water where infrastructure, nature, livability, and accessibility come together. And it is precisely in these nature-rich regions that our objectives for emission-free working are truly realized.

That diversity is reflected in your work. From reconstructions and major maintenance to area developments, construction team trajectories, and complex infrastructural issues for municipalities, provinces, and private clients.

Projects we are proud of include the construction of the new RDW test circuit in Marknesse and the construction team agreement for the redesign of the N706, including the replacement of the Thomson Bridge.

Why project leaders choose KWS
Many project leaders consciously choose KWS because of the combination of freedom, responsibility, and regional involvement. With us, you get:

  • Responsibility for your own working area

  • Plenty of room for entrepreneurship

  • Short lines and fast decision-making

  • An involved and experienced project team

  • Direct contact with clients

  • Influence on the development of colleagues

  • Visible impact on the region

  • A mix of large and small projects ranging from € 500,000 to € 15 million

What you bring

You work from a broad order portfolio with various contract forms, including multi-year framework agreements, RAW, UAV-GC, and construction team projects. This allows you to keep developing yourself and always work on different types of tasks.

What do you bring?
You don't need to be a specialist in everything. More importantly, we find that you take ownership, know how to connect people, and get energy from realizing beautiful tasks.

In addition, you recognize yourself as much as possible in the following:

KWS also works as a market leader in road construction and asphalt production on large-scale multidisciplinary projects to realize complete infrastructure. Sustainable innovations such as the electric asphalt paver, the emission-free asphalt mixture KonwéCO2, and the cold asphalt recycling train (c)art come from the KWS incubator. In their own words

About the company & team

Ready for a next step? Are you a senior site manager or senior work preparer ready for a next step? Then we would also love to talk to you.

Your new working environment
You will become part of KWS Infra Zwolle-Leek. An organization where colleagues know each other, where collaboration is a matter of course, and where good ideas are taken seriously.

Within the region, you will work together with fellow project leaders, site managers, work preparers, our two own asphalt crews, and technical specialists who share the same ambition: realizing beautiful results and being proud of the work they leave behind.

The project leader team forms a close group of professionals who (bi-weekly) share knowledge, help each other, and are collectively responsible for the success of the region. Additionally, you will get the space to build your own network with clients and stakeholders, through which you actively contribute to the further development of the working area.

We are large enough to execute complex tasks independently and small enough to stay close to the customer.
