Your value as a Senior Exchange Engineer

A secure, stable, and future-proof digital working environment is indispensable for the daily work of the House of Representatives. As a Senior Exchange Engineer, you ensure that Members of Parliament and staff can email and exchange information securely and reliably. You are the technical point of contact for Exchange, handle complex incidents and improvements, and maintain continuous oversight of the platform's availability, performance, and security. At the same time, you think ahead: you advise on the development of the Exchange environment and help build the hybrid cloud environment of the future. In this way, you make parliamentary work possible behind the scenes every single day.

Main tasks

You:

• manages Exchange Server, Exchange Online, and the hybrid environment, including email flows, connections, certificates, security rules, and access rights;

• performs security updates, upgrades, and other changes, and subsequently verifies that the full service is functioning correctly;

• automates and standardizes management using PowerShell;

• performs migrations and recovery work and collaborates with specialists on security, backup, and recovery;

• manages logging, monitoring, and control information. You only perform search and export tasks after an authorized request and according to applicable procedures;

• maintains technical documentation and work instructions, shares knowledge with colleagues, and contributes to infrastructure and cloud projects.

What we ask of you

• HBO working and thinking level.

• Good command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written.

• Extensive experience with Microsoft Exchange Server and Exchange Online in a hybrid environment.

• Experience with monitoring, incidents, changes, upgrades, and lifecycle management.

• Good command of PowerShell for Exchange management.

• Knowledge of email flows, DNS, certificates, secure connections, authorizations, and email security.

• Knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and role-based access.

• A careful, analytical way of working: you look at the entire technical chain, take responsibility, and collaborate well with other disciplines.

• Experience with availability, backup, and recovery, and willingness to participate in the on-call service.

• You will participate in the on-call service and will be available outside office hours where necessary for urgent disruptions and planned activities.
