We are an informal company with about 80 colleagues and work in small, independent teams that move quickly and spar a lot with each other.

• You have at least 5 years of experience as a software engineer and a strong, broad technical foundation.

• You have demonstrably built with AI—think of LLM applications, integrations, agents, RAG, or ML features—and know what is involved in putting AI into production.

• You truly understand the technology: you understand how it works under the hood and continue to deepen your knowledge in a field that changes monthly.

• You are a connector: you switch effortlessly between engineers, product, and business and get people on board.

• You are a driver with persuasive power—you show what is possible by building it, not just by talking about it.

• You have a pragmatic, critical eye: you recognize where AI adds value and where you should be cautious.

• You feel at home in a modern DevOps environment (Docker, Git, CI/CD) and are comfortable with cloud (preferably GCP).

• You communicate clearly and dare to take a stand, even towards senior colleagues.

At TreeHouse, AI is not a standalone project and not a distant future—it is already part of our daily workflow, from code generation to accelerating sprints. But the possibilities go far beyond where we stand now. We are looking for an AI Engineer to take the lead: someone who truly understands the technology, connects disciplines, drives and facilitates acceleration, and continues to understand the lightning-fast changing world of AI and translate it into concrete value for our products.

The role: a driver, not an executor

This is a senior role with a lot of autonomy and direct impact. You are not a cog in a single team, but a driver who looks across teams and products: Pararius Office, Leadflow, Pararius.nl, and Huurwoningen.nl. You translate new AI developments into opportunities, build the proof of concepts yourself to show that it works, and then help teams to utilize those opportunities structurally.

It is explicitly not a management role. You lead through content and technology, not people. Your authority comes from what you build, what you know, and how well you bring others along—not from a position in a hierarchy.

• You explore and understand new AI developments (LLMs, agents, RAG, evaluation and orchestration tooling) and translate them into concrete opportunities for our products and processes.

• You build yourself: from prototype and proof of concept to production-ready AI features that truly help real estate agents and home seekers.

• You connect disciplines—engineering, product, data, and business—and ensure that AI initiatives do not remain isolated on an island.

• You drive acceleration and facilitate it: you take the AI workflow of our engineers to a higher level and help teams work more effectively with tooling such as Cursor and Claude.

• You contribute to thinking about the architecture and requirements to run AI responsibly and scalably in production: quality, cost, privacy, monitoring, and evaluation.

• You remain critical: you distinguish hype from value and ensure that we deploy AI where it truly delivers results.

TreeHouse works on platforms that connect more than 3 million home seekers with rental professionals every month: Pararius.nl and Huurwoningen.nl, and the CRM products Pararius Office and Leadflow. There is an enormous amount to be gained with AI there—smarter matching, better candidate selection, automated processes, and data-driven features.

Technically, our teams work with PHP (Domain-Driven Design and CQRS), Docker, Kubernetes on Google Cloud Platform, and CI/CD pipelines with tooling such as PHPStan, CS Fixer, and Deptrac. AI tooling (Cursor, Claude) is a fixed part of our daily way of working—and that acceleration is only increasing. You will help determine where we are moving as an organization.
