The role

Design that proves: from problem to validated result

Are you a designer for whom the screen is not the endpoint, but the proof? Someone who views AI not as a tool but as a co-player, and who therefore moves faster from problem to substantiated solution? Therapieland is looking for a Product Designer who unites research, interaction, copy, and visual craftsmanship in one role, and who makes design choices based on hard evidence from real users and real data. You work for professionals and clients in mental healthcare and the social domain, where the quality of a design directly impacts someone's mental resilience.

What you'll do

  • Ownership of the result: you take on a question from a product owner or partner and carry it through to the end. You fathom the user, clinical, and business context, frame the problem, design the solution, prototype, go live, and test whether the intended change actually occurs. Shared ownership yields half-results.

  • Designing with AI instead of by hand: you orchestrate AI tools to generate interfaces, explore variants, and deliver production-ready components. Your contribution lies in judgment, taste, and direction. Before anything reaches a user, you critically test and correct the output against our brand identity, our accessibility requirements, and clinical safety.

  • Data-driven working: you translate design choices into testable hypotheses, set up A/B tests, read product analytics, and let evidence have the final say instead of seniority or the loudest voice. "Done" means the metric has moved, not that the design has been delivered.

  • Alignment and co-creation: you facilitate discovery sessions, design sprints, and critiques with product owners, engineers, practitioners, and external partners. You bring diverse input back to a single supported direction, and you clear up handovers and waiting times instead of managing them.

  • The design system as capital that yields returns: you maintain a living design system and a design context library for AI tools, so that quality scales, the brand remains consistent, and every subsequent project starts one step further ahead. Good context accumulates; poor context fails silently.

  • Breadth over specialism: you build working proficiency in research, UX writing, interaction, visual craftsmanship, front-end, and the product and healthcare domains. Enough to independently carry any design result, without the intervention of a specialist.

You will be judged on the results you deliver and validate from start to finish, on the extent to which design choices are substantiated with data, on the quality and accessibility of what goes live (WCAG AA), and on the judgment of the teams and partners you work for.

About Therapieland

The accessibility of mental healthcare has been under pressure for years. The supply is not keeping pace with a demand that continues to grow, with increasing waiting times as an inevitable consequence.

At Therapieland, we work towards a different outcome. With our digital solutions, we enable organizations to organize value-driven mental care around the person. In this way, we support professionals and their clients in mental healthcare and the social domain on a daily basis.

We do this by developing inspiring, intelligent, and connecting psychology on demand. Mentally resilient together.

Those who work here do so out of conviction: the desire to contribute to something that transcends their own role. At the same time, as part of Visma, we seize the opportunities of new technology, AI foremost, with both hands. Our ambition is to lead the way in making mental healthcare smarter, more personal, and more scalable. It is precisely this combination of social mission and technological courage that makes Therapieland unique.

The role of Product Designer

Therapieland builds in Flow. We do not fragment work across specialisms with handovers in between, but work with broad makers who own a result from start to finish. As a Product Designer, you are that maker for design: not a UX researcher, UI designer, or interaction specialist waiting for a briefing, but all three at once.

AI is now taking over a significant portion of production work: screen layouts, components, applying existing patterns. That is precisely why your value shifts upward. You determine whether the right problem is on the table, give the product direction, and demonstrate with real users and real data that the design does what it promises. You work on assignment from a product owner or at the request of other teams and partners, thereby making design a driver of measurable results instead of a service provider delivering screens.

You report to the CPO and work intensively with the product trio, with our delivery teams, and with customers and users.

Who are you?

We are looking for a designer with exceptional adaptability: someone who experiments by habit and converts new AI-native ways of working into repeatable routines. You bring:

  • A portfolio of launched work. You have taken real products from problem to proven result and show not a collection of design files, but what demonstrably changed for users because of your actions.

  • A truly AI-native design practice. You already design in synthesis with AI and use it for discovery, generation, variation, and prototyping. You assess the output critically and know its weak points. You don't need to acquire this way of working; you are already moving within it.

  • Familiarity with data and experiments. You work effortlessly with product analytics, choose the metric that truly matters, and set up A/B tests that you subsequently interpret carefully. You keep signal and noise separate.

  • Facilitation skills and stakeholder management. You lead workshops and critiques, bring diverse interests together, and articulate design choices and their reasoning accurately to both technical and non-technical interlocutors.

  • Product and systems thinking. You frame a problem before reaching for a solution, oversee complete user journeys and second-order effects, and think in systems instead of individual screens.

  • Affinity with the domain. Mental healthcare, including design and clinical safety, moves you, and you delve into why something is being built before you decide what it will become.

  • Excellent command of Dutch and English.

  • As a plus: experience in healthcare or another regulated domain, setting up or scaling a design system, front-end knowledge (HTML/CSS, component frameworks), and a track record of assignments from multiple teams and stakeholders.

What makes this role special?

There is no handover. No research team handing you insights, no UI team drawing your flows, no wall towards engineering. It is precisely the absence of those links that enables acceleration, and that changes every decision you make: you design with the knowledge that the whole belongs to you. Discussions here are not settled with seniority or taste, but with evidence. You turn a conviction into a hypothesis and test it, and you are more stimulated than disrupted when the outcome proves you wrong.

This includes a question that returns daily in mental healthcare: where does human presence truly make a difference, what can you leave to AI with peace of mind, and how do you remain accountable for the experience, regardless of who or what created it?

What do we offer?

  • At Therapieland, we are convinced that diversity in teams leads to better innovation and better care. We therefore explicitly invite candidates who enrich the composition of our team to apply.

  • A meaningful role, in which your design directly impacts the mental well-being of people in the Netherlands.

  • The space to be the first to determine what AI-native product design looks like with us, with the power of Visma behind you.

  • A driven team of professionals working from shared values.

  • Plenty of room for personal development and for testing new tools and methods.

  • A competitive salary and excellent secondary benefits, for an appointment of 0.8 to 1.0 FTE.
