How do you make learning so much fun that children want to keep exploring? At Squla, you combine technology, play, and child psychology to design digital learning experiences that expand children's worlds. Their enthusiasm, unexpected questions, and honest reactions make children a wonderful target audience to work for.
We are working on a total renewal of Squla. As a Product Designer, you research what children, parents, and teachers need, explore and test new concepts, and develop them together with the team. Your greatest strength lies in research and the exploration and testing of ideas, and with your design skills, you bring those ideas to life.
At Futurewhiz, we build digital learning products that help children and young people grow. With brands like Squla and StudyGo, we support hundreds of thousands of students in their development. As a B Corp, we combine commercial growth with social impact.
Squla helps primary school children learn through games, quizzes, and interactive exercises that align with Dutch education. With our product renewal, we are building the next phase of Squla. You will help discover which learning experiences can make the difference in that.
At Squla, you will work on questions such as: How do you help a child get back on track after a mistake? What makes an exercise challenging without becoming frustrating? How do I ensure that the form contributes to the learning effect?
As a product designer at Squla, you work on the entire design process: from user research and concept validation to UX and UI design and implementation. You make ideas tangible, flesh out interactions and visual details, and build the renewed Squla together with the team.
You are a Product Designer who gets energy from:
Understanding the target audience: You speak the language of children, parents, and teachers, visit schools, and combine observations with behavioral and usage data.
Exploring and testing new concepts: You translate insights into opportunities and ideas. You make assumptions explicit and choose appropriate experiments and prototypes to investigate whether a concept is understandable, attractive, and valuable.
Designing and further developing: You develop promising ideas into journeys, flows, interactions, and visual designs, with attention to ease of use, accessibility, and consistency.
Contributing to implementation: You work together with Engineering to develop designs into working product experiences. Where appropriate, you can "vibecode" yourself to make changes in the product code, with review by Engineering.
Learning from results: You use feedback, tests, and usage data to assess whether your design works and what can be improved.
You work together with colleagues from Product, Engineering, Education, Data, Marketing, and Design. You will also become part of the design guild within Futurewhiz: a place to discuss design work, share knowledge, and help each other grow.
You are a Product Designer who loves to investigate why people need something and how a design can align with that. You feel comfortable when a problem is still open and know how to turn research into concrete next steps.
Additionally:
You have 3+ years of experience as a Product Designer, UX Designer, or UX/UI Designer and have designed and delivered digital products in a multidisciplinary team.
You can conduct research independently: formulating research questions, choosing appropriate research methods, and translating execution and findings into design choices.
You understand the difference between what users say, what they do, and what you can conclude from that.
You explore multiple ideas before choosing a direction and use prototypes to learn quickly.
You have good skills in UI design, visual design, and prototyping, preferably with Figma.
You can weigh user needs against learning goals, product goals, and technical possibilities.
You explain your choices clearly, are open to feedback, and take responsibility for the quality of your work.
You can vibecode and use AI design tools to create concepts, working prototypes, and product adjustments. You critically assess the outcomes and ensure quality and feasibility together with Engineering.
You have a good command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written. You can conduct research with Dutch-speaking children, parents, and teachers and share insights clearly with your English-speaking colleagues.
In your portfolio, we would love to see how you moved from research to insight, concept, and validation, what choices you made, and what you learned from them.
Experience with research among children, EdTech, digital consumer products, or learning through play is a plus.
