The role
An intersection that is flashing cannot wait until tomorrow. And during the conversion of an installation, you work with your team toward that one moment: the commissioning. Whether your expertise lies in building installations or in analyzing and resolving faults, at SWARCO you work on technology that is important every single day for the safety and flow of traffic. That gives you a different feeling when you later stand at the red light yourself.
What you'll do
At SWARCO, we are looking for technicians for various roles within traffic control installations. Depending on your education, knowledge, and work experience, we will look together to see which role suits you best: a role in projects or a role in maintenance and service.
In projects, you work on the installation and conversion of traffic control installations. From a bicycle or pedestrian crossing to a large intersection with multiple linked control cabinets. You handle the electrotechnical assembly work on the external installation and the connections in the traffic controller. In doing so, you work on traffic lights, push buttons, cabling, and the connection of detection loops, among other things.
You work from electrotechnical diagrams and coordinate your activities with the other technicians and subcontractors on site. You mount components to masts and gantries and connect the cables on both sides. The groundwork and the installation of detection loops are carried out by specialized parties. Their activities and your assembly work run partly alongside each other and must connect well. Usually, you work within a fixed team. The supervisor discusses with you what needs to be done and when the installation must be ready. Within those agreements, you determine the division of labor and the sequence of activities together.
In maintenance and service, you are responsible for the maintenance and the resolution of faults in traffic control installations in your region.
During a fault, you investigate where the problem lies: in a component on the street, the cabling, or the traffic controller. You perform measurements, read diagrams, and carry out the necessary repairs. How far your activities within the traffic controller go varies per region and is linked to your knowledge and authorizations. Where specialist support is needed, the supplier is called in.
You work largely independently and coordinate the planning and progress with the service coordinator. You combine planned activities with reports that come in during the course of the day. If an installation fails or remains flashing, that fault takes priority. You register your findings and performed activities, so it is clear what has been resolved and what follow-up is still needed.
You work from a fixed branch in the region.
What we offer
At SWARCO, we believe a new job should offer more than just an attractive salary or an engaging project. We believe the whole picture must be right. That is why we offer you a varied and challenging position, where you can work on cool projects that truly matter. From day one, we provide an extensive onboarding process. Your growth and development are a top priority for us; therefore, you will be given the space to follow both internal and external training and education. What else you receive based on full-time employment:
- A good salary between € 2,772.62 and € 4,263.06 gross per month based on 40 hours per week, matching your knowledge and experience;
- 25 vacation days and 13 ADV days;
- 8% holiday allowance and variable profit sharing;
- A collective health insurance and a good pension scheme via PMT;
- Living and working in the region: you work from your own branch;
- All facilities to do your job well, such as a work van, mobile phone, and laptop;
- The possibility to grow into the position of head technician in the long term;
- Fun team outings with your colleagues.
Who we are looking for
You know your trade and enjoy working outdoors. You can work independently and take responsibility for the quality of your work. Safety is your highest priority in doing so. You communicate easily, listen well, and coordinate with others so that everyone knows where they stand.
You love it when work progresses and you contribute to that yourself. If things go differently than expected, you remain calm and think along for a suitable solution. You rely on your own technical insight, but also know when it is wise to consult with colleagues. Furthermore:
- You have an electrotechnical educational background or relevant work experience in electrotechnics;
- You have technical insight and recognize differences between components and connections;
- Experience with reading electrotechnical diagrams is a plus;
- Experience with building or converting traffic control installations, or with maintenance and fault diagnosis, is a plus;
- Affinity with ICT is a plus;
- You hold a B driver's license.
Have you become enthusiastic, but do you not fully meet the requested profile? Do not hesitate to send in your CV anyway. We like to look beyond diplomas and work experience alone. Your competencies and motivation count too!
