Growing from Work Preparer to Project Manager...
You arrange it before anything can go wrong outside. A project that starts outdoors in sixteen weeks might seem far away. But it is precisely during that period that the difference is made.

At SWARCO, we believe a new job should offer more than just an attractive salary or an interesting project. We believe the whole picture must be right. That is why we offer you a varied and challenging position, where you can work on impactful projects that truly matter. From day one, we provide an extensive onboarding process. Your growth and development are a top priority for us; therefore, you will be given the space to follow both internal and external training and education.
What else you receive based on full-time employment:
Project controller, financial controller, business controller... What’s in a name? As a Controller at SWARCO, you are actually all of these in one. You are the financial conscience of multiple regions and act as a sparring partner for our regional managers. You help them keep their projects manageable, predictable, and financially healthy. Because behind every successful project is someone who ensures that the numbers are just as accurate as the execution!
You start the day with a cup of coffee (or tea, of course) and a look at the most recent figures. Soon, you notice something. For instance, at first glance, a project seems to be well on track financially, yet something doesn't feel quite right. You dive into the figures, compare the forecast with what is actually happening within the project, and see where the deviation arises. Time to contact the project leader. Not to tell them what is going wrong, but to determine together what is needed to keep the project financially in control…
To do this, you sit close to the operations and work closely with the regional managers and project leaders. You analyze the financial results, monitor budgets and forecasts, and look critically at the development of projects. If you see a deviation, you want to know where it comes from. And if you expect a project to turn out differently financially than anticipated, you don't wait around but take action.
The projects within your regions are quite diverse. From small service tasks to projects worth several million euros, regularly carried out within larger framework contracts. This also means that you have many different projects under your care at the same time.
Your role is broad. In addition to project monitoring, you deal with forecasts, budgets, and financial reporting. You monitor, among other things, costs, invoicing, cash flow, and working capital, and ensure that projects are financially well-structured and closed out. You also participate in project reviews and are involved in new projects and tenders earlier and earlier. This gives you visibility into the entire financial process, from the start of a project to its final completion.
At the same time, this role is constantly evolving. We want to increasingly make the step from controlling and reporting to looking ahead, advising, and adjusting. This means there is plenty of room to take initiative yourself and think along about how we can further improve our financial processes, reporting, and way of working.
You are part of the SWARCO control team and report to the Business Unit Controller. At the same time, you are emphatically part of the regions you work for. You can regularly be found at the various locations, you know the projects and the people behind them, and you know what is going on. It is precisely that combination that makes this position interesting: you are right in the middle of the operations, but you always maintain your independent view from your financial responsibility.
Who we are looking for
For this role, we are looking for someone who is ready for the next step in his or her career, but who also always likes to have one foot in the operations.
Your strength? You combine analytical insight with a hands-on mentality. When action must be taken, you are the one who stays on top of it. You switch easily between different tasks and know when to listen, when to advise, and when to be critical. With your sharp eye, you signal deviations before they become problems, without losing sight of the bigger picture. You seek out collaboration, communicate easily with colleagues at different levels, and know how to convey financial information in a clear and convincing manner. Furthermore:
Interested? You are very welcome!
Are you curious about the position of Controller and would like to apply, or would you prefer to come by for a coffee first for more information without any obligation? The choice is yours!
