In short

Flight KL691. Made possible by you, Ground Engineer. Together with your team, you ensure that our aircraft can fly safely and on time to their next destination. As a KLM employee, you contribute to unforgettable flights. Whatever you do!

What will you do?

It is thanks to you that our aircraft are safe and ready for use on time. You ensure that maintenance in our hangars (Schiphol Oost) and on the line (Schiphol Centrum) runs flawlessly. By rolling up your sleeves, leading your team of technicians, and keeping a close eye on everything. Are you at risk of not reaching the desired end result on time? Then you intervene immediately - because it is the responsibility of you and your team that the aircraft are ready in time for their new flight.

Furthermore:

  • you perform inspection, modification, and maintenance work;
  • you decide with a Certificate of Release to Service whether aircraft can safely take to the skies;
  • you deal with the latest technologies within aviation;
  • you work on the very latest Airbus and Boeing aircraft; you provide technical guidance, and you ensure that colleagues perform their work safely;
  • you contribute to the development of your teammates.

Where will you land?

You will join KLM Engineering & Maintenance (E&M), the maintenance area at Schiphol-Oost or Schiphol Centrum: dynamic, inspiring, and international environments. We are looking for Ground Engineers for various aircraft, including the A320, 737, 777, 787 and A330 - and in the future also the A350. Therefore, your workplace and team are not yet fixed. But together we will surely find an environment that suits you! At E&M, we work in shifts. Evening, night, and weekend shifts are also included.

Your profile

Aircraft hold no secrets for you, but you also get along excellently with people. After all, you must be able to lead, motivate, and stimulate them. That means you can communicate your ideas to your team without any problems. While you work closely together, ultimately the result is your responsibility: fortunately, that responsibility and pressure bring out the very best in you.

Furthermore:

• you have at least five years of experience as an (un)licensed mechanic;
• you possess an AML B1 and/or B2 with at least one type rating, preferably for one of the following types: A320, A330, B737, B777 and B787.
• you understand (technical) English very well.

What do we offer?

As a Ground Engineer, depending on your experience, you will receive a salary between € 3,849.18 and € 5,075.55 gross per month. This amount is increased by an allowance for irregular working hours, depending on your workplace, up to a maximum of 55 hours per month.

In addition to this monthly salary, you will receive the following extra allowances on an annual basis:

  • An allowance for possessing an active AML in combination with one of the KLM aircraft types. The allowances are: €2,691.00 (for one type), €3,507.00 (for two types) and €4,322.00 (for three types);
  • 8% holiday allowance;
  • An end-of-year bonus of 8.33%;
  • A budget for sustainable employability of 2% of your gross annual salary.

Finally, we offer the following other conditions:

  • Plenty of room for personal development and great growth opportunities;
  • An excellent pension scheme;
  • A labor market allowance of 5.75%;
  • A profit sharing (average of last 10 years 5.784%);
  • 25 vacation days and 7 extra free days;
  • Significant discount on flight tickets (if you have been employed for at least 6 months);
  • A sustainable transport policy, including 100% free travel to work by Public Transport (within the Netherlands);

For international candidates with an EU passport who are willing to move to the Netherlands, we offer support in their relocation. You will receive a one-time "relocation package" in the year of arrival to support your move to the Netherlands. This includes, among other things:

  • Travel: visit in advance and relocation ticket with luggage;

  • Settlement assistance: support with visas, permits, and local information;

  • Training: cultural/language training for you; budget for partner;

  • Temporary (furnished) housing for 1 month;

  • Moving of belongings (container);

  • Support with tax returns;

  • One-time net allowance: €4,200 for you/partners and €900 per child (max. 2);

You will have a standard Dutch contract with local conditions based on the KLM Ground CAO.

Should you want more information about the various hangars and/or Line Maintenance Schiphol, the schedules, the salary and/or the secondary employment conditions, send me an email, and we will schedule a Teams meeting to discuss further!

Ready for your next destination?

Then do not wait any longer, and apply for the 'final boarding call' on 31-12-2026! You do not need to write a motivation letter; during your online application, we will ask you some targeted questions. Your application procedure consists of two interviews and a security investigation. You will receive word from us within two weeks after the closing date of the vacancy.

To be able to perform this position, you need a Schiphol pass that gives you access to the secure area at Schiphol-Oost. This can be a grey pass, or an orange one with a black border. When necessary, we will apply for this for you. If this pass is not granted to you - for whatever reason - you unfortunately cannot start in this position.
