Public Transport / Multimodal Transport Planning Engineer (Simulation Focus)

Urbanvind is a fast-growing startup developing innovative solutions for public transport analytics. Our solutions help cities and transport operators better understand passenger flow. Our core product, CrowdFlow, uses Bluetooth and WiFi sniffing with machine learning to provide real-time passenger counts and Origin-Destination insights, aiming to replace expensive traditional hardware. Urbanvind was started by EIT Urban Mobility graduates and is funded by EIT Urban Mobility. Our team is focused on using data and AI to improve urban mobility. We are in the process of closing a funding round which will support our expansion.

We are seeking a motivated Public Transport / Multimodal Transport Planning Engineer to contribute to a new project that will build upon our CrowdFlow platform. This role will involve developing advanced tools for transport analysis and simulation. This role offers an opportunity to make significant contributions from an early stage. You will be a core member of our team, expected to contribute, challenge, and grow with us, not just fulfill an intern's tasks.

• Currently pursuing a PhD or a recent Master's graduate in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Data Science, or a related field.
• Strong familiarity and hands-on experience with transport simulation models, particularly for multimodal transport planning.
• A strong knowledge and thorough understanding of MATSim simulations is highly preferred.
• Proficiency and demonstrable experience in programming with at least one language (e.g., Python, Java, C++).
• A genuine interest in public transport, urban mobility, and data-driven solutions.
• Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and take ownership of projects.
• Good analytical skills.
• Comfortable challenging existing ideas and proposing new solutions.
• Any prior experience in transport modeling projects, research, or industry is a plus.
• Interest in a long-term role with the ambition to grow within the company.
