• Ensures a clean, safe, and orderly working environment.
• Independently performs operation and control activities on the various process installations.
• Operates the production installations in accordance with applicable quality, safety, and environmental regulations and other applicable rules and procedures.
• Reports deviations to the Shift Supervisor regarding quality, production, cost, environmental, and safety objectives.
• Identifies opportunities for optimization and improvement.
• Assesses the condition of the process installations during control rounds, takes samples, and evaluates analytical data, taking action if necessary.
• Attempts to prevent malfunctions, or to minimize the adverse influence of malfunctions. Locates and resolves malfunctions and/or reports them to the Shift Supervisor.
• Stops and starts the various process equipment in collaboration with the control room operator for maintenance or production stops.
• Prepares tasks so they can be scheduled and performs the (safety lockout) activities so that the task can be carried out.
• Releases equipment in accordance with work permits and supervises and checks hired personnel and company employees.
• Supervises the correct execution of the LMRA in accordance with the applicable procedures.
• Actively involved in shift handover in order to ensure the continuous process according to quality and safety standards.
• Drafts safety lockout schemes and standard operating procedures and validates the same documents drafted by colleagues.
• Assists with and performs minor maintenance work.
• Supports Turnaround and Day organization.
• Performs primary and follow-up sampling if certified for confined spaces, explosive in nitrogen, and flammable in the environment.
• Contributes to the adjustment and drafting of process descriptions, P&ID's, WIs, and Job Safety Analysis.
• Performs inspection rounds and assesses the condition of the installations.
• Performs sub-tasks as established in the VGMK book.
• Ensures reporting of relevant information, informs the Shift Supervisor if necessary about the condition in the installation, and hands over the shift to the successor for their post.
• Guides, instructs, and mentors (new) operators.
• Fulfills the role of fire and safety watch.
• Actively contributes to the implementation, compliance, and improvement of the 5S methodology.
• Operates a forklift in a competent and certified manner for the execution of the work.
• Identifies and prevents emissions, leaks, spills, and waste of raw materials and energy.
• Actively contributes to improvement projects (e.g., Lean/Operational Excellence/Continuous Improvement) within the department.
• Maintains professional knowledge and mandatory certifications and participates in education and training.
• Makes correct use of process and maintenance systems (e.g., SAP, DCS, Shift connector) for reporting and registration.
• Compliance with the standards, working methods, and obligations of effort as described in the VGMK handbook, applicable IMS, SHE&Q principles, and Life Saving Rules.
• Makes optimal use of utilities and minimizes waste streams.
• Promotes a positive attitude towards SHE internally and externally through correct compliance with regulations and proactive handling of SHE, aimed at preventing unsafe situations.
• Identifies and takes improvement actions where possible and necessary.
• Reports all (near) accidents in the Safety dashboard.
• Promotes "We always have time to work safely"
• Takes note of and acts thoughtfully regarding the release and execution of work in ATEX zones.
• Intervenes in situations that can directly or potentially lead to (SHE) incidents.
• Makes improvement suggestions, whether requested or unrequested.

For our Stanyl plant, due to expected turnover in the laboratory, we are looking for experienced operators who want to grow into the laboratory within a foreseeable timeframe. For this, knowledge of control systems, at least 5 years of experience as an operator within complex chemical plants, and possession of a Vapro C diploma are requirements. Given that our laboratory operators also rotate to the field station, we consider it crucial to first learn as a field operator before being able to complete the training to become a laboratory operator.

Stanyl is the first high-temperature resistant polyamide and the only aliphatic polyamide in its class.
